When did Lyle ever quit? He actually had decent stamina for a big man, better than Ruddock. Tyson and Ruddock both looked like crap in their fights with one another. No jabs, poor footwork, taking whole rounds off.
I say Lyle, who actually had pretty quick hands/reflexes, beats them both.

One guy out cold...... Which one? Dunno but on gutfeeling I go with Ron Lyle as the winner. After all he had the mighty George Foreman ad the edge of a knockout.KOJOE90 wrote:Two big, tough powerhouses who never quite won the title. Any thoughts fight fans?

Slow and lumbering Lyle? Compared to Ruddock!!! I think Lyle was much quicker than Ruddock, and actually had some basic boxing skills. He also had pretty good stamina. Did you see him against Bugner?overhand_right wrote:Ruddock by knockout, probably climbs off the floor. If Tyson couldnt knock Ruddock out, a slow lumbring Lyle wont.
Exciting early but Lyle runs out of gas & does his obligatory quit job diving to the canvas. Remember Muhammad Ali nearly iced this guy with one punch. When it gets late in fights Lyle gets tired & beat up.
I would hardly say that Ali “nearly iced” Lyle with one punch. He staggered Lyle with a good right hand. Hardly anything to be ashamed of. And as I recall he was ahead on 2 score cards at the time of the stoppage. Do you really think Ruddock could have done as well against Ali, or been able to hang with Foreman and nearly KO him?
Lyle by easy UD, or possible late KO.

Tyson wasn't exactly impressive in these fights.overhand_right wrote:Ruddock by knockout, probably climbs off the floor. If Tyson couldnt knock Ruddock out, a slow lumbring Lyle wont.

He was one slightly less one dimensional & lumbering than Ruddock was.
They were terrible fights, when you consider that they were supposed to be the 2 best challengers to Evander Holyfield.
Holyfield would have had a field day with the both of them, in 1991ish.

First off, regarding the Ali fight that right hand was one of the fastest best punches Ali ever threw. I mean it was LIGHTENING. Razor never approached to being that fast.Syntax Error wrote:Tyson wasn't exactly impressive in these fights.overhand_right wrote:Ruddock by knockout, probably climbs off the floor. Also, I agree with Syntax. Look at Holyfield-Cooper and than the Ruddock-Tyson fights. Holyfield would've iced them both.
Lyle was down for more than 10 counts and the bell saved him, I also feel the round was shortened in Lyle's favour because after all the fight was held in Lyle's home town. Earnie should of won by 2nd round KO right there and then.dempseyfire wrote:I've watched SHavers-Lyle many times. Lyle was up by the count of 7. 10 seconds my ass.
Lyle would punish Ruddock. Such a more fluid fighter. Ruddock had his smash and that was it.

If you or someone could please post that fight up for all to see. Lyle was up in time and even giving him a fast count he still makes it.RazorKO wrote:Lyle was down for more than 10 counts and the bell saved him, I also feel the round was shortened in Lyle's favour because after all the fight was held in Lyle's home town. That's kind of how I remember it, although it's beena quite a few years since I've seen this fight. Either way, Lyle was vastly more skilled than the limited Ruddock.dempseyfire wrote:If you or someone could please post that fight up for all to see.
