Yes, expect Hatton to be in the ring shortly after 2am UK time (9pm local time Boston).
Around 2.45AM UK time I guess: HBO broadcast it 9.45pm EST.

He's not so big that it will affect him much, he hasn't done a Shane Mosley, also depends how much flexibility work he has done.
What kind of stuff did Mosley do?
Well, that's open to speculation, but he went from a slight Wiry Lightweight to a musclebound beefcake at light middleweight. His weight gain obviously did him no favours, as for all his extra muscle strength, he hasn't KO'd anyone since Adrian Stone in 2002.

My point is that he put on way too much muscle bulk, and as a result lost his speed and flexibility. It was his workrate which got him all the KO's combined with blistering hand speed, not big muscles, but somewhere along the way Shane became convinced that it was his physical strength which would get him KO's.

Indeed, Chambers actually got slower, not faster as he bulked up. Not surprising, the wind resistance from hauling that enormous frame through the air must have been huge.

Maurice Green, although he looks hugely muscular, is actually surprisingly slight in build, and not that big a man.

I thought he had failed a steroid test in the manner of Roy Jones - iE no action was taken.

Maurice just has big shoulders, his waist is pretty small.

no he never failed, but he was a client of Balco....
beside boxers are only tested after a fight... so you can work out your cycle to show up clean on fight night ...... track athletes were doing that for years..... i hate to use him as an example (as i feel he was a huge scapegoat) but Ben Johnson went undetected for 6-7 years by timing his cycles correctly..

Steroids or no, Johnson was a hell of a runner at his peak. I'm sure plenty of other guys were juicing at the time, but none of them came close to his time.

Seems to be more prominant in the US not supprising with Roy Jones getting a fine and having it hushed up not the most terrifying punishment, but there will always be someone to sanction these bouts.

Yeah does look beefy but he doesn't weigh a light middle when he goes into the ring like most fighters are doing though. Ripped to fornicate as well still at any weight Mosley fights in.

What are you on about, Mosley fights at light middle! Of course he weighs in at light middle. Mosley looks like someone who lifts far too many weights. I know weight training is incorporated into modern training, but he's too stacked now.

I mean the dehydration thing they do at weigh in's and then come in a stone heavier nearly when they step into the ring.

yeh you got a point there mate (his abbs look rediculouse in the second one particularly given you need a lot of flexibility round the middle for boxing)

NO WAY!!!!! Hatton is shoulder pressing 105kg :o

105llb maybe, but no way is he shoulder pressing that amount. I know some pretty big body builders who would struggle to shift 105kg on the shoulder press.

Although his times before the dates he admitted juicing and when he returned (before he got caught juicing for a 2nd time) were average.

He was still young in 1992 (only 30) when he ran in the Olympic juice free and his times were around the 10.2-10.3 mark.

As for Dwain Chambers slowing down when he got bigger, I think the times would indicate otherswise - although, I think he was getting too big also but hard to say if he over done it (i.e. whether he hit the optimum size/speed ratio in the pre season). He was a choker though, and I don't think would ever win a gold in a major championship.

Ben Johnson was a decent natural teenager....probably semi final material.

He clearly reacted VERY well to the juice...Not everyone reacts the same...

That is what a lot of people dont realise about taking gear....they assume that every human body is the same....

i might go on juice and make huge gains with little or no side effects... another guy, taking exactly the same thing, may make very little gains and end up getting liver problems..

interestingly this evening Justin Gatlin ran 3/100 quicker than Johnson did!!!!

I bet that he is :P - I used to do weights in a crappy gym under where Scott Dann trains. One day Scott came down from doing an hour of boxing training (his 2nds of the day) and picked up the heaviest dumbells (40kg each) and knocked out a clean set of 12 reps on shoulder press.

I read that Kosta Tszyu used to do one rep on a really heavy weight to build up his power, so may be Ricky was doing a shoulder press with just one rep of 105Kg? I was also told that hatton was shrugging 250Kg - not sure how true this is though! :o

We all know that lifting weights doesn't equate to much neccesarily in boxing, but he's been upping the weights he can lift. I don't know if the figures are impressive, but he's been bench pressing 120kgm, and shoulder pressing 105kg, which seems pretty good for someone weighing only 147 lbs.

definitely, he's not the litle terror he was at light welter. nor does he have the skills to make up for it, an di don't think he wants to hang around in the game long enough to develop a veteran's skills ala Castillo.

funny, when i talked to hatton in aug '04, he said to me he wasn't a welter and doubted he'd ever move up
