Soto Karass vs. Macias - CompuBox Record Breaking Punch Stats

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Jesus Soto-Karass’ 1,848 total punches thrown is most ever recorded by one fighter in the CompuBox era, shattering the 1,675 Antonio Margarito logged in beating Joshua Clottey on December 2, 2006. Soto Karass’ mark was achieved in two fewer rounds than Margarito’s.

With 612 total connects, Neeco Macias became just the 4th fighter ever to crack the 600 mark. Cecilio Espino holds the all-time record with 637 total connects against Luigi Camputaro in January 1992 while Troy Dorsey’s 620 in his first fight against Jorge Paez in February 1990 is second and Zack Padilla’s 615 against Ray Oliveira in December 1993 is third. Of these entrants, however, Macias is the only one to accumulate 600 or more connects within 10 rounds.

Yet another all-time CompuBox record the pair set was the 3,353 combined total punches they threw, which obliterated the previous record of 3,020 set by Ray Oliveira (1,596) and Zack Padilla (1,424) in their December 1993 12-rounder, the only other fight recorded by CompuBox that cracked the 3,000-punch mark.

They also combined to land an all time CompuBox record 1119 punches. NOTE: they landed just one jab each all fight!!!!

The punchstats are crazy, but the fight was only okay. Soto Karass won it pretty dominantly. Macias smothers his own punches too damn much.

These scrappers only know how to slug. 1 jab each and all power shots. They probably had hardly any power in them mostly but power shots regardless.

Fun fight but I agree that Soto-Karass won wide. 98-92 JSK on my card.

This was supposed to be the final fight for Jesus Soto-Karass.
If it turns out that way then thanks for all the good fights Jesus.
Boxing always needs fighters like him.
Nothing great about Jesus but whatever his best was on a given night he gave it to us and fought the best opponents he could get.
He finishes with a record of 29-13-4, never won a world title but still had a respectable career, gave the fans a lot of good fights and recorded some solid wins along the way.
