nonito donaire

Post by Grant »

Gotta admire this guy and should, I think, become a Hall of Famer when he finishes, but what the?
"World Boxing Association Super World Bantamweight Title" Trying to get my head around this. So it means he jumps ahead of the regular champion without facing him. I know we have done this to death and I sort of get it, but try explaining this to a casual fan and watch their eyes glaze over

Burnett held the WBA Super World title at bantamweight.......................................Donaire defeated him so he now has the bantamweight WBA Super World title.
Bantamweight WBA Super World title has not been vacant in at least five years, the title holder keeps getting beat....................but not one of those losses have been to the guy holding the regular title at the time.

Haha. Have to be Pinoy writing this. Donaire was getting his ass beat and was probably gonna get stopped when his opponent hurt himself throwing a punch. That was a total gift of a title. Credit to Donaire however for being a great fighter, a classy guy, and for being at the right place at the right time

Was a pretty competitive fight... to say he was getting his ass beat is beyond a stretch.

I don't get what you want to happen with your comments. The guy didn't duck anyone within his weight. Was a p4p material and a FOTY. Also promotes being a clean athlete. No need for your nonsense comments.

Also, your guy Burnett will probably win on points but will not stop Donaire since he's feather fisted.

I bet you 2 will be upset if Nonito will make it to the finals of the WBSS. I may be wrong but looking at how Tete fight, it's a KO in the making for Donaire. And if you really remember the guy that KO Tete was stopped by Donaire way back when he's still in his prime.

lulz bruh, it was a sarcastic remark, luckybattles was going after op for being some kind of biased donaire fanboy when the op was actually questioning the legitmacy of donaires title, which is hardly fanboyish

i dont mind nonito at all, hes had a really nice career and was one of the sports most explosive punchers for a while

He got a little bit lucky in his last fight but that wasn't his fault, as they say 'you gotta be in it, to win it'.

He took a gamble in dropping weight to enter the wbss and it payed off, more power to him i say.

Regardless of what happens against Tete, he has had a hall of fame career for sure.

I'd have him just rounding out the top 50 P4P of my lifetime (i.e. the past 40 years).

he had a pretty good world level run with lots of shows of explosive speed and power, to me he was a p4p fighter even if not one of the absolute elite among them. one thing though is that he often did look for big single shots too much. and despite moving up so many classes was usually the bigger man, sometimes quite a bit. ive seen some say he was a 'weight bully' at times....maybe

even now though vs good opponents he is still showing something, even though obviously faded. he hurt frampton a few times and even while losing rounds to burnett i thought was 'in' it
