That’s what I thought when Little ranted about losing out on a fight in Bulgaria then the next day said Eddie had sorted him out.

I think Price should've hung em up already but if he can't beat Little he has to seriously call it a day!
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
I wonder if Price is carrying on for the glory or the money?
He must have earned enough to set him up a built, buy a house etc. He seems quite a sensible guy, and he does have a trade to fall back on.

When you lose viscously by knockout many times, you lose any/all punch resistance that you have ever had. He should have started considering retirement after Teper. He would have been a better ambassador for the sport behind the scenes as a trainer, etc.
His last fight... Was very sad... And it's been sad ever since the bubble burst against Tony Thompson. I don't want to see yet another tragedy in boxing, just because someone refuses to do the right thing for themselves.

He’ll win 2 or 3 fights - then in against someone dangerous and he’ll get badly sparked again. He doesn’t know when to stop - he’ll end up like Danny Williams.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑14 Nov 2018, 15:10 When you lose viscously by knockout many times, you lose any/all punch resistance that you have ever had. he should fight some guys like little, dl jones, maybe even a howe or darch etc to get some wins domestically. see how that goes, then up to a higher domestic standard or commonwealth standard, maybe vs a turner, cornish, or a guy like kash ali. internationally, could be a lenroy thomas. have an actual domestic/commonwealth run progressively fighting better opponents and he could be interesting again.
dont want to see him at euro level or above again anytime soon. the last fight vs kuzmin he actually boxed decently i thought and he wasnt sparked out, but still to win he needs a lower level. i thought i read he got paid pretty well vs povetkin and for some of these undercard fights, so it may just be a case where the money for a loss was simply too good to turn down compared to what hed get for a bunch of domestic wins.

Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
I was thinking about Danny recently (triggered by a Kipling Angel Slice), and how special he sometimes was during his early years. And like Price, the more fights he lost the more comfortable he seemed to become with boxing, inverse to his fading ability.
I wish Williams had retired after Tyson, because I don't think he was ever quite right after Sam. You carry on for too long and you end up so far gone that it doesn't matter any more.
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
Danny carried on to pay for the education and financial stability of his children, there was nothing else he knew how to do that could keep his kids where they were. Pricey is likely motivated by the same thing now. It's all well and good us lot saying pack it in but if they do, are you going to put your hand in your pocket for them?
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
Williams suffered terribly with nerves, didn’t he? Which I think Price has a problem with too. In retrospect, you are right, Danny was already past his best when he fought Klitschko for the world title and that fight probably took everything else out of him. What a fantastic career though, the dislocated shoulder victory against Potter, the crazy win over Konstantin Airich, second only to Henry Cooper in British title defences and of course beating Tyson.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑15 Nov 2018, 01:13I was thinking about Danny recently (triggered by a Kipling Angel Slice), and how special he sometimes was during his early years. He even got a ‘world’ title at the end...

Maybe but he had somewhat of a chin back in the day (unlike Pricey)chinarich wrote: ↑15 Nov 2018, 06:30Grilling Machine wrote: ↑15 Nov 2018, 01:13I was thinking about Danny recently (triggered by a Kipling Angel Slice), and how special he sometimes was during his early years. Has this fight actually been announced anywhere?
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
It does rather seem to dispense with the notion that boxers have 'best before' dates, doesn't it? I mean, where do you stop? Should they just go on and on?
I don't buy into this "all I've ever known...all I can do BS" - Go and reinvent yourself, get a job, improve yourself - we live in an age when there's more choice out there for more people than at any time in history, probably!

Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
Hearn confirmed it is Price vs Little.
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
i prefer that, i am still hoping price goes on a progressively increasing in level domestic/commonwealth run, losing with some good moments at euro/world level hasnt convinced me that he doesnt have anything to offer still at a lower level. i think he could potentially win the commonwealth and brit again, just depends on how long he could go vs that type of opposition before the lure of a bigger losing payday calls
we dont have problems when most boxers who cant hold it at one level drop back down to a more appropriate level, i think maybe we should just rethink price as a domestic level guy rather then some sad failure up at higher levels. that said, when he keeps going back into the same level hes kept losing at i guess its fair game.... i hope this time he at least goes on a run before that happens again

Christ not great then mate youd have to work full time anyway id only fighting a few times a yearleejonesjnr wrote: ↑16 Nov 2018, 09:11Won't be much for an undercard bout against Tom Little, would guess at £10-12k.
Re: David Price v Shannon Briggs 22nd December 2018
Price Briggs would be a great fight for the casuals but pretty sure Briggs wants 6 figures for a basic fight these days,

More for a 'proper' bout such as Povetkin of course, sponsorship etc which is easier to come by for higher profile boxers rather than the usual builders/scaffolders/prostitute sponsorships you see on small hall boxers.REEVE wrote: ↑16 Nov 2018, 11:17Christ not great then mate youd have to work full time anyway id only fighting a few times a yearleejonesjnr wrote: ↑16 Nov 2018, 09:11Won't be much for an undercard bout against Tom Little, would guess at £10-12k.

Neither will Pricey. Big Ron noted that after 4 rounds against Christian Hammer his cheeks were expanding like a set of bellows.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018, 09:14Briggs wouldn't be able to breathe after 3 or 4 rounds.MattCoke wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018, 06:43 Price v Briggs, 10 rounder, undercard of Whyte Chisora, loser retires surely, also free money for gamblers betting on ‘fight not to go the distance’ market. Briggs should let Price have his way for the first 3/4 rounds then take him out after Price has shot his load, or vice versa, Price let Briggs shoot his load, then take him out. I’m predicting a bad knockout either way.

Fight aint happening. Price is fighting Tom Little. Don't know why OP put a date on this, making everyone believe it was happening.
