Interesting fights between current pro fighters in amateur boxing

Post by dagilechia »

does anyone know of some of such fights? i mean especially fights that were/are highly unlikely to happen in pro boxing but did happened in amateurs like for example David Price vs Krzysztof Glowacki (Beijing 2008 qualification tournament, Price by KO) or Tony Bellew vs Artur Szpilka (Poland vs England match, Kielce, Poland, 2007, Bellew won after a competetive fight).

Andre Berto stopped Tim Bradley twice in the amateurs.

Bradley and Berto also fought at 152 with Andre Dirrell.

Ward states that Bradley was one of his hardest amateur fights.

Maidana and Matthysse fought a few times in the amateurs with Maidana getting the best on average.

I know about a whole bunch of fights I’ll have to remember. I’m pretty sure danny Garcia and Terrance Crawford are 1-1. I know shawn porter beat Demetrius Andrade. I know shawn porter fought danny Jacobs a few times as well. Keith Thurman beat Charles Hayley, but they shared knockdowns in the fight. I remember Vernon Barrett (Paris) whooping everyone in the ams. I will have to sit down and really look over all the stuff I have.

Solis had wasted everything he could waste. Very sad, he had the great potential.

My bad, Ortiz lost to Alexander Povernov in 2005.

There was some rumours that Povetkin beat Ortiz in the ams.. Not sure if that is true.
