Mark Bennett v Kamil Sokolowski

Post by MasterG »

Here is the full fight from last Saturday. Mark Bennett is now looking to fight Kash Ali for the Central Area Heavyweight title.

Bennett, ex squaddie only took up boxing about 3 years ago. Coming along nicely after only 3 pro fights.

he looked pretty sloppy and was starting to gas after like 2.5 rounds. i actually thought sokolowski had about as strong a case for the decision as bennett did too

fun fight though

i havent really seen much of kash ali to know how theyd match up, though i dont think it would take a particularly good fighter to beat hennett

For a 2 fight novice this was always going to be a points fight. Kamil very rarely gets stopped and is a durable character. It was a daring fight to take in my opinion. Early days for the new edition to the British scene but hopefully he can put a few wins together and gain some experience.

Bennett is ex Royal Artillery.

it was a respectable win at that stage but imo not very impressive when you actually watch him

would like to see them rematch over 6 or 8

incidentally, kash ali also beat sokolowski 39-38, ill have to watch that

i get the sense that a lot of these types of fights soko loses could easily have been draws or wins. i would like to see him vs guys like ali and bennett in longer distance fights

Sokolowski is decent and pretty watchable - credit to Bennett for taking the fight. As for the Area title, jumping from 4 rounds to 10 rounds is a big leap. Any plans to test him out over 6 or 8 first?

Not sure he'll be allowed to jump from 4 rounds to 10 round title fight , might need a scheduled 6 rounder before he's allowed I think.

There's no rule on it - it is down to the discretion of his Area Council (I was on an Area Council for several years until recently). But whether the fighter can do the distance is always part of the decision-making process.
