The main difference between Shields and Rankin was a handspeed and power advantage to the former. Rankin was understandably reluctant to commit with her jab, but if only she'd doubled it and stepped-in behind the second. Her shots just didn't seem to have any flex in them, as if thrown by someone in plaster casts with the resulting loss in power.

But I didn't see a gulf in boxing skills between them as the commentators did, just a difference in natural athleticism, and I think Taylor's miles ahead of Shields on talent.

Miller's used to using his size to back opponents up so that they can't plant their feet, grinding them down with his volume and weight, but I wonder what happens when he meets someone who doesn't comply.

does shields have any power? shes yet to even floor anyone as a pro, ive seen her absolutely pound on some lowly opponents but never really doing damage. tbh rankin just does not seem good to me, she also hardly won a round vs that napolean girl who got clowned by little old tori nelson

agree on taylor being better then shields

Miller looked trash, I know he said he had a cold so i'll cut him some slack but he's slow as fvck, ponderous and doesn't seem to care much for defence, he does hold his guard high but he dips to the right and leaves himself open to big rights, Dinu started off alright actually, jabbing and moving whilst Miller just stalked, by the 3rd though Miller had a foothold in the fight and Dinu went into a shell, the first knockdown in the 4th looked a glancing left hook and Dinu looked like he wanted out there and then, I wasn't surprised Miller finished him off right after, big right hand doing the damage

im not sure anyone but the elite beat him tbh. hardly as if the division is teeming with quality hws who will obviously have no issue dealing with a strong straight ahead guy

Yeh, I gave Dinu the first 2 rounds. He was doing well. It changed in round 3.. he felt Miller’s power and got pushed back a little.

He just seems too easy to hit IMO.

Does Miller beat someone like Joe Joyce? I think Joyce takes chunks out of him personally.

Joyce hasn't been using his jab much as a pro. I don't know why, as it was quite decent. But the pro fights I've seen him in, he seems to be throwing hooks and jabbing a lot less. Given his height and reach, his jab would be a key offensive weapon in facing Miller. Miller doesn't move his head, he holds a high guard which is OK, but a good jab or double jab seems easy to connect on him ( going by Dinu having no problem landing it) and he wouldn't see the power shot that would follow it.
I sick of Miller facing guys like #57 Dinu. We can speculate till the cows come home, but until he gets into the ring with at least a B grade opponent, who knows :maybe:

im not rating miller, all i see is a david tua without the equalizer. he trundles forward and overwhelms people who dont get out of his way.

would a mover like hughie fury keep out of his way.....stick and move?

I was disappointed with Miller, average footwork and zero head movement. He’s gonna need one helluva chin to competitively mix it with heavyweight elites.

I think prime Tua was a little bit more of a handful than Miller.
Lovely to hear him mentioned though :TU:
Hughie would run rings around Miller, pot shotting and moving. Then probably lose the decision

I rate Miller a bit more than most. Not on skills, because he doesn't have many, but on what he presents as a package. I reckon he's actually an athletic powerpuncher in a fat man's body, but that dropping to 260 would take away more than it gave. I think he'd get bashed by Joshua, but might smother most of Wilder's work and test Fury's fitness.

He's basically the boxing version of:

his stamina has been no worse then most hws out there despite the weight, guys with more 'in shape'' appearances are gassing before him. i think he gets underrated because people look at the fat first and also make too much out of his laid back style that sees him often lose the first round or two against opponents who really cant get his respect

but hes a very strong guy, has some of the best body punching and combos in the division, and hes actually going later into fights no problem with output and energy. his chin has been totally fine too but well need to see it higher up in levels. but weve seen pulev rocked by hughie, whyte rocked by helenius , etc...whereas a guy like duhaupas (who ktfo hele) couldnt even budge him

tbh id give him a great shot to beat anyone aside from the very top, wouldnt surprise me at all if he beat whyte, walked through pulev, overwhelemd povetkin ,etc. i have no doubt that hed beat guys like joe parker, breazeale, kowacki, takam etc.

Be nice to see someone match his work rate like the polak . I know what your saying about the divsion not being top notch . But Miller is goning to be judge on what he is saying. And he thinks he is in top bracket now. His last fight did show a lot of flaws defence was poor charged around the ring .he is not a banger throws quite wild .
