Your last win was solid but not exciting. Do you need to make a statement against Pascal?

“I believe that I have to make a statement in every fight, not only against Pascal. Boxing is a sport that is very unique in the sense that not always everything happens exactly how you plan for it. Many things depend on your opponent -- like whether he wants to fight or survive -- and other factors. Just like life, boxing is unpredictable, and that is always exciting. Luckily Pascal is the type of fighter who likes to engage, to fight. That is how he became a world champion. So, with our styles, I am confident that I will make a statement because it will be an exciting all-action fight. Pascal is a great competitor and the biggest name I have faced as a world champion. I have trained hard to make this a memorable fight and to stay world champion.

“All my life I have wanted to headline HBO World Championship Boxing and now I am only days away from making a dream of mine come true. The historical significance of this event is not lost on me. It is an honor to be in the main event of the final show of such a great series.”

Do you feel that you are now the main man carrying the flag for Russia in boxing, and is that added pressure?

“I honestly do not feel that I am the main man in Russian boxing today. There are other good boxers from Russia. But I do feel that I am a representative of the good boxing coming out of Russia -- a symbol of how great Russian boxing has become and how much greater it can be. I try not to think about it too much and I don't let this add any additional pressure on me. In reality, it's not important for me to be the best or to be considered the best. What is important to me is that I train hard to be the best that I can be and that I do my best inside the ring for every fight. I want my fans to enjoy my fights and keep following my career. I do not want to let them down. The only way to do that is by totally dedicating myself to my craft and giving my all every day I put on the gloves.”

I think Bivol will either work away at Pascal, forcing a stoppage. Maybe not a KO loss. Ref, corner stoppage type.

Pascal can probably take it the distance if he fights safety first. But might be a 120-108 type decision.

Karl “Dynamite” Dargan’s self-imposed boxing hiatus ended in success with his shutout unanimous decision win in six rounds over Jonathan Perez in August.

Now that he’s back in action, Dargan (18-1, 9 KOs) isn’t burning daylight. He fights again close to home in Atlantic City on Saturday, November 24, on the non-televised undercard of Dmitry Bivol vs. Jean Pascal main event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.

Dargan will face veteran Moises Delgadillo (17-17-2, 9 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico, in an eight-round lightweight bout.

Definately a decent fight.. Pascal is definately past his prime, but not a shot fighter. He's experienced as a pro, more experienced than Bivol..

Will be a good name for Bivol's resume.. Who knows, Pascal might surprise us.

pascals faded but hes still got a bit left, he fought respectably and won rounds vs the lhw elite alvarez last year and totally bashed up the favoured elbial less then a year agoi. its not a bad fight given whose available imo.

His management did say after his last fight. they want to have 'a name' on his record.. A recognizable name, whihc is what Pascal is.

Adonis Stevenson Hopes Pascal Wins, Not Impressed By Bivol

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson is hoping that his countryman, Jean Pascal, wins big this coming weekend in Atlantic City.

"Dmitry Bivol is a good boxer, but he's the most vulnerable champion in light heavyweight, in my opinion," said Stevenson to the Montreal Journal. "We see that he wants to gain fame by winning against Pascal. He wants to use it to get into the division. A unification against Bivol would not be a big attraction and it would not be a fight for me."



Should Pascal win - then all four of the major champions at 175-pounds will be from Canada - with Artur Beterbiev holding the IBF belt and Eleider Alvarez with the WBO.

"I hope he wins because he's a guy from home," said Stevenson. "His victory would be good for Quebec and Canada. It would send a clear message on the international scene that Canada can have several champions in the same weight category.

"If Jean wins, we could write a page of history by having the four champions from the same weight category from the same province. I have never seen that in Quebec or in Canada. We should enjoy it because it would be a rare phenomenon in boxing. "

Stevenson believes that Pascal has the tools to overcome Bivol. And he explains why.

"It's true he's fast with his hands," Stevenson said. "It will be [dangerous] if you stay in front of him and you stay within his reach. This is a characteristic that can be seen with Russian boxers.

"On the other hand, if you make regular lateral movements, his speed will decrease. You do not have to stay in front of him and I'm pretty sure Jean knows about this reality. When you go in the ring, the predictions do not mean anything. In a fight, you never know what can happen. A punch can change everything. When the bell rings, one must never forget that every boxer is a punch away from defeat."

Co-Main Event: Akhmadaliev vs.Zarate

Murodjon Akhmadaliev (4-0, 3 KOs), age 24, a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and accomplished amateur originally from Uzbekistan, will make his American television debut in the co-main event of the HBO World Championship Boxing show featuring Dmitry Bivol vs. Jean Pascal fighting for the WBA World Light Heavyweight title at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City on Saturday, November 24.

Akhmadaliev will face Isaac Zarate of San Pedro, California, (16-3-3, 2 KOs) in a 10-round fight with the WBA Intercontinental Super Bantamweight title at stake. Zarate, age 27, is hot off his upset split decision victory over Horatio Garcia in September.

The bout will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Akhmadaliev lives in Brooklyn, New York, and trains in Indio, California with Joel and Antonio Diaz. “It’s been my dream to fight on HBO where Roy Jones, Manny Pacquiao, and many other great fighters have fought.
