I'm just a gatekeeper. If he was world class he'd have stopped me.
I didn't even think he was as good as Sonny Bill Williams who himself is a bit of a novelty.
Best of luck to both guys, but the China boxer should win.

Helenius sucks. I'll never forget watching Monte with no legs to begin with, laugh at the best that lummox Ustinov has to offer.dagilechia wrote: ↑05 Nov 2018, 06:51 Ustinov and Helenius now sparred with Szpilka before his fight vs Wach and it is said that Ustinov did much better than Helenius. Sparring is just a sparring though.

He’s off the card.
Ustinov is listed as fighting Michael Hunter.

Anyone know why? Could it be his handlers think he's too young for such a formidable step up ? ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

so, recent cruiser Hunter is stepping in?
that's a surprise matchup, Hunter had a gruelling scrap with Bakole only a few weeks ago and was also cut.
now he's stepping in last minute against another giant lug?
Hunter's stock continues to rise
good luck to him

Visa issues for a fairly high profile international bout should have been long since sorted out. Maybe China was afraid they would "lose face".

visa problems happen all the time in boxing, led to loads of cancellations over the years even in fairly high level fights

They moght have been working on it for a while. VISA's can take ages and take the piss..Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑19 Nov 2018, 12:11
But why just a few days before the fight? Zhang should have already been there training.
Let's not say this is a high profile fight.

I'm going with the theory that the Chinese authorities were afraid Zhang wasn't up to international standards and could "lose face" for China. But there's still one more big Zhang to go! I'd like to see boxing become popular in China. Chinese people are growing much bigger now and a successful heavyweight could become a sensation and do the most to popularize boxing in the most populous country on earth.
Re: Zhilei Zhang vs a "World Class" Heavyweight on DAZN
The only problem with that is you could end up with a situation where the rankings are dominated with guys who all have unpronounceable names, frequently alternative ways of spelling it, sometimes even known by two entirely different names like some of their towns and cities, hard to say, hard to spell, hard to differentiate, hard to even remember.
Be careful what you wish for.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

They are only one syllable names, Candy. The ones you should be worried about are the unpronouncable eastern European names. There is a terrible shortage of vowels in Eastern Europe. Meanwhile Polynesia has a huge surplus of vowels. They should work out some sort of trade agreement. Maybe trade machine parts for vowels. Throw in some coconuts and breadfruit and pirogis and kasha or something to sweeten the deal.
Re: Zhilei Zhang vs a "World Class" Heavyweight on DAZN
Officially it was due to Visa issues according to Chinese media
Re: Zhilei Zhang vs a "World Class" Heavyweight on DAZN
Is there any Chinese heavyweights that aren't padding their record or padding someone else's record.
Re: Zhilei Zhang vs a "World Class" Heavyweight on DAZN
I think the one syllable names is more true of the Koreas where it seems there are a pool of about a hundred or so such words of one to five letters, but mainly three to four, where you can pick any three and arrange them in any order and you've got a proper full name shared by any number of the two populations.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑21 Nov 2018, 14:47candyslim wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 12:30 The only problem with that is you could end up with a situation where the rankings are dominated with guys who all have unpronounceable names, frequently alternative ways of spelling it, sometimes even known by two entirely different names like some of their towns and cities, hard to say, hard to spell, hard to differentiate, hard to even remember.

Chinese is a little different it seems to me. While you get many shorter names you also get place names like Changjiangkou aka Changjiang Kou and like Giangzhou aka Giang Zhou aka Canton.
I like your vowel joke very much and I too believe a good joke deserves a regular airing.

Kudos to Michael Hunter Jr. for stepping in & taking the fight. I think he'll rise to the occasion like he did his last time out & stop the bigger man in the later rounds. I'm looking forward to watching this card tomorrow on the DAZN at 2PM est.
