Any News Of BJS?

Post by Coco »

Everything has gone really quiet, but I suppose FW is busy with other stuff at the moment.
Is he going to get a ban? Does Hooker have to give him a shot? Will he look for another route back? Or jump into GGG or Canelo for less money? Is FW going to continue with him? Does BJS even want to come back?

Maybe a lot rests on a Tyson victory. A victory which will open up a lot of promotional doors for FW

I think BJS is pretty well off and has invested well in properties etc... He's said before he's made more money out with boxing than he has from the sport itself. I wouldn't be surprised if he just faded away in to obscurity tbh...

Not sure about BJS and Fwank's next move but I would expect Eddie to keep the doors to the WBO title at 160lbs firmly shut as far as they're concerned. Ditto for the WBO light welterweight belt too, which Fwank had dibs on for a while, and was hoping to use for domestic showdowns involving Catterall.

A very successful year for Eddie in terms of check-mating your rival British promoter.

I hope to see him again. This thing of waiting for the big fight- Canelo/GGG never works out. Look at Khan, wasted the tail end of his prime. BJS relys on speed and movement, not the sort of thing that ages well. It would be a shame to waste what I see as one of the most talented British boxers in the last 5 years.

He was in Massachusetts, but I don't think he's banned anywhere now.

Think the WBO boss recommended a six month ban, then Fwank announced they were taking the Massachusetts commission to court, that is underway and I imagine given the respective arguments and perceived grey areas over the substance in question, everyone will be a bit wary of issuing a ban against BJS, lest they cop for it too, from a legal perspective. Think Billy is currently without a licence, so would have to apply, but I don't think he has actually been stripped of his BBBC licence ?

He was not banned in Massachusetts, he was denied a license to fight in Massachusetts.
There is a difference, the commission can't suspend the license of a fighter who does not have one to begin with.
Expect the court case to go exactly nowhere.
The commissions in America have pretty much unlimited authority to issue or deny licenses.
They don't have to allow anybody to fight in their jurisdiction and there is nothing stopping BJS from applying for and possibly receiving a license to fight in a different state.

Whats his route back? Needs to get a mandatory spot and that will take time.

Some of those comments are scary.

FW being blamed for his inactivity - he had a fight lined up but wasn’t licensed as he failed a drugs test. How is that FW’s fault?!

Also Eddie being blamed for his fight against Andrade being cancelled. He signed up to VADA and failed a VADA test. No-ones fault other than his.

Billy Joe Saunders is definitely a wanker. A disgrace to boxing? We’ve had worse. It’s expected to have questionable characters in boxing. People who attack people, men or women, people who steal money, murder, rape. Racists, homophobes...there’s plenty of bad eggs.

BJS ain’t a great role model. He makes Tyson Fury look like a nice guy. But I guarantee he’s an outstanding boxer, and to waste such a talent would be very insulting.

He should be mandatory for that WBO belt at middleweight. If not, I’d like to see him vs GGG. Winner of that is no. 1 at MW for me.

If I were him I'd go all-in and try and tempt Golovkin. He's on the slide and potentially available, and should Saunders win he'd be on a straight road to Canelo.

I think Golovkin still has too much, but if Saunders doesn't make his move soon he'll end up losing to a second-tier contender instead, his hopes of championship glory all over there and then. Losing to Canelo and/or Golovkin's going out on your shield, if nothing else.
