I pick Wilson, Meng and Hunter to win today
I pick Wilson, Meng and Hunter to win today
Oregon's Mike Wilson has the amateur credentials (2 time U.S. National Superheavyweight Champion), undefeated as a pro and North American Cruiserweight Champion.. . . .Meng will move into a title position in 2019 as its hard to avoid the massive Chinese television viewing audience and Hunter is getting notice as a real title contender.

I'd love to see Wilson upset Lebedev but as a pro he has been bottom-feeding against very soft opposition for his entire 9 years as a pro.actjac wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 12:49 Oregon's Mike Wilson has the amateur credentials (2 time U.S. National Superheavyweight Champion), undefeated as a pro and North American Cruiserweight Champion.. . . .Meng will move into a title position in 2019 as its hard to avoid the massive Chinese television viewing audience and Hunter is getting notice as a real title contender.
The fact that Wilson has a TBA 10-round bout already scheduled for his rural Oregon hometown in early March shows me that even his handlers dont expect him to win this one.

On the other hand, former Olympian Hunter has some nice wins before and after his one-sided loss to Usyk. His foe Ustinov is already in his early 40s so I'll go with Hunter by competitive but clearcut decision.
(Just found out Hunter won by TKO 9 but at least I had the right winner.)
The Meng-Buglioni bout is also over with Meng winning by TKO5.

To my knowledge Wilson doesn't have handlers. He used to post on another boxing site I frequented and I remember him being very down that no one would sign him. He was running his career himself then, White Delight Promotions or something along those lines. I believe Wilson's career would look very different right now if one of the major players would have signed him. I have no idea why no one wanted him, he has good amateur credentials. At 35 years old and with boxing not being his main job it's going to be very hard for him to beat Lebedev. Sad story really, I wish someone would have picked him up.Best Coast wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 18:17 I'd love to see Wilson upset Lebedev but as a pro he has been bottom-feeding against very soft opposition for his entire 9 years as a pro.![]()

If Wilson has no handlers and has scheduled a 10-round March bout back home on his own I guess that means even he realizes his chances vs Lebedev are very slim.punchoutsb wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 18:30To my knowledge Wilson doesn't have handlers. He's promoting a card which he will fight on. Is it that hard to understand?Best Coast wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 18:38If Wilson has no handlers and has scheduled a 10-round March bout back home on his own I guess that means even he realizes his chances vs Lebedev are very slim.punchoutsb wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 18:30To my knowledge Wilson doesn't have handlers. The fight game can be merciless at times. Too bad Wilson couldnt have hooked up with some high-powered promoters. There are not many top-notch American HWs or Cruisers coming out of the amateur ranks in the past decade or so and so most of them labor in obscurity like Wilson has in the pro ranks. At least Wilson was able to get a world title shot.punchoutsb wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 19:16He's promoting a card which he will fight on.
