Think it would be a tough ask to get straight back out there and beat Takam.

Hunter mentioned USBA? title... Think he should probably have a rest and go for that early next year... :TU:

Zhang Zhilei is ranked #1 and Hunter is #2.. title is vacant. So he may need to fight Zhang.

I thought USBA is a USA based org so don’t know why Zhang is rated.

Why not. Zhang should apply early for a US VISA and Hearn should get the fight on DAZN.

Wow, Hunter stopped Ustinov. Quite the statement.

The little i saw of the fight, Ustinov looked pathetic, just sticking his arm out, not even trying. I think his training had consisted of him preparing to take a dive against the mysterious and elusive Honorable Number Two Son Zhang.

Hunter is on the right track. He has fought big stiffs at the HWs, but that's a good start. He gotta get used to big guys. Takam and Zhang will be decent options too, as they are/were at the contenders' spot. And Joyce is even better, it can turn out to be an especially interesting bout.

I really like Hunter, I think he's looked great recently, has quite a wild style but I'm not sure if its just because he's needing to rough these big guys up to get inside but its effective so far, he won everything against Ustinov but because of Ustinov's constant holding and leaning that would've been a gruelling fight, it was fought at a fair old pace too, Hunter's got a great engine, I think he's world class actually, certainly at Cruiserweight but still needs to prove it up at Heavyweight, going by the eye test though i'd fancy him to be fringe top 15 for sure

I think Ruiz would pummel him at this time. I'd rather see him against Kuzmin or Zhang or even Kabayel.

he stopped ruiz in the ams, i dont really rate ruiz, doubt hed pummell hunter, i think hed struggle with hunters boxing style

im interested in him testing some of these prospects though, i like the idea of zhang and kuzmin fights. maybe then if he wins one of those onto a higher contender

Fighters like Ruiz do better in pros. I'm not a big fan, but Ruiz can hit and he's deceptively fast. AT THIS TIME I think he'd be too much for Hunter. I could be convinced otherwise.

i just dont see at all ruiz pummelling him, ruiz couldnt even pummel a totally faded liakhovich, he simply isnt good enough to pummell hunter imo. from what i read he could hardly lay a glove on him in there am fight, i know this is the pros but i think hunter would trouble him

what is ruiz even doing anyway

Reading "Boxing Training Like Arreola." Like I said. I could be convinced otherwise. I need to see Hunter against a quick full sized HW before I make any more educated opinions on his potential. I'd like to see this fight.

I wasn't referring to Ruiz (who is actually 6'2") when I said full sized and quick/fast HW. He is a blob for certain, but he can fight a bit.
Kuzmin or Zhang or even Kabayel.

Hunter’s inside work was good last night. If only this ref refereed Joshua vs. Parker.

I AGREE!!! I'm still wondering how that fight would've gone had the inside fighting not been eliminated by the a$$hole referee.

That same Italian ref was actually one of the judges for Hunter vs. Ustinov.

Michael Hunter is pretty impressive, all things considered. There must be a weight problem for him not to operate at Cruiser? I imagine it’d be a lot easier for him not facing some of the huge lads at Heavyweight. I’d like to see him against Joyce, Parker or Gorman down the line.

Having said that, don’t wanna see Hunter matched too hard on the Whyte/Chisora card, he’s got something to give the sport, he shouldn’t have to be overmatched against someone after already fighting twice in two months.

He's always been a HW that can make CW, same with Briedis and Gassiev. Usyk's resume is translating well at HW given both Briedis and now Hunter have done well there.

He's doing what he does best. Eat and not fight.
