Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
Just out of interest, who actually buys the belt in the first place?
I assume it is either the promoter or the boxer themselves out of their purse?
Just checking it is Ronny’s to sell !

Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
I don’t like the guy but it’s his belt to sell.
The details and wording can vary but apart from BBBoC belts which have to be defended a number of times or one purchased, belts belong to the winner. The champion and challenger pay a fee from the purse for the sanction as does the promoter and the belt fee is also paid one way or another, generally by the promoter, but the belt is the trophy presented to the winner. When a champion loses his title he still keeps his belt.

Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
It's a sad day when an active pro boxer has to sell his belts to make ends meet, after all the hard training and work put in etc thinking youre away to get a half decent pay day 10 days before Christmas, then to have it cancelled through no fault of youre own,I'm not in the know but to me it doesn't look like hel get a pay day in the ring now til into the new year, there's some folk on here who don't know Ronnie but seem to dislike him and revel in it when things go wrong for him,as I saw on a thread earlier this week when his fight got cancelled,I really wish you lads actually met the lad and got to know him,I'm sure a good few of you would change youre opinion pretty quickly
Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
does every fighter who sells there belt do it because of hard times? i dont know about ronnie, but there are guys like jamie mcdonnell who admit to not really being a fan of boxing and i can see guys them like simply rather having extra money instead of a belt even if not strapped for cash
plus a lot of boxers good enough to win good titles prob already have huge trophy and belt collections , going back to the ams

Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
It's titles like these that are de-valuing all the other titles in boxing ?
Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
You often see belts on Ebay. I often look just out of interest who's selling their belts.
As of today there is a WBO belt that belonged to Gerald McLellan from the fight against John Mugabi. You can buy it for 4.5K
There is also a Floyd Mayweather IBF belt you can buy for £1800

There are a few Mayweather belts but none are actual IBF belts and none were his, just signed replicas.MasterG wrote: ↑25 Nov 2018, 15:11 You often see belts on Ebay. I often look just out of interest who's selling their belts.

I might be wrong here but im sure Henry Cooper sold his Lonsdale for about 45k. I'm sure I read that somewhere but I might be wrong.
Re: IBF European Belt on eBay
He had invested in Lloys of London and ended up having to pay out. I remember him selling all 3 belts.
In those days the Lonsdale belt contained a good bit of gold rather than brass

Tommy Coyle on Twitter has offered to give Ronnie the money as long as he keeps the belt.
