Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury - 1 December 2018
I'd be really surprised if it goes the distance, but of course that wouldn't be the biggest turn-up. I just think there are loads of variables that run against it. If not power, late-round stamina's likely to be a huge factor. Unless it's an absolute non-event with both playing it safe...
I feel pretty confident that Fury'll be incredibly nervous at the start, but if that doesn't get him knocked out it might drive him towards an impression of Bowe versus Hide. Fury's never fought a man his own size with a lot more power (I would've counted the hungrier rematch Wlad), but then Wilder's never fought anyone his own size with the intelligence to stay on top of him.
But all along I've felt that Wilder's combination of height, reach, speed and power is too much for any version of Fury. If I end up betting, I think I'll put my largest amount on Wilder in 1-3. I actually find it easier to imagine Fury winning by stoppage than on points; I'm not expecting a tidy fight.

I expect a maulfest. Fury respecting the unorthordox power and moving outta danger then using his height and weight to lean on Wilder and wear him down in the undoubted clinches.
But they're HWs so anything can happen.

I also think Wilder could outpoint him, that theory is definately not lost on me, however, i'm more inclined to think if Fury goes 12 rounds in this fight its because he will be boxing well, and if he's boxing well he is likely to be winning rounds, if he is getting outboxed by Wilder, then he is surely going to be stopped by Wilder.tobyh5 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2018, 08:51 Amazed that not a single person has gone with Wilder winning by decision.
People often with go with what seems logical in a fight like this - that one guy has (believed to have) such superior skills to the other guy who has (believed to have) much more superior power and so either the first guy wins by points or second guy by KO.
Often forgetting that if they think the powerful guy will hit far too hard and catch the other guy, that there is a chance he does so but the superior boxer may be sturdy enough to take it, may go in his shell, may take a bit of a beating and thus be negated and thus lose on points.
Wilder could very easily outpoint Fury.
The interesting scenario arises if its a nip and tuck fight where the rounds are close are hard to score, and its to and fro after 6. I think this scenario is rather unlikely, more likely is the obvious Fury outboxing Wilder, or Wilder blasting Fury in the early to mid rounds, IMO.

Can't help but wonder how Wilder is going to handle a big fast guy , , then again if he lands will Fury handle his power , this is a real intriguing fight for me
Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury - 1 December 2018
On the BT show Fury alludes to this being an all-out war. Can't see that at this stage of his career.

How many fights actually end up being all-out wars? Boxers always say that before fights to sell tickets/PPVS, hardly ever really happens. And especially where Fury is involved.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury - 1 December 2018
Not gonna be an all out war, wilders gonna try make it a one shot finish, while furys just going to box him and confuse him all night long to a wide points win

Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury - 1 December 2018
Thats why I was surprised, it's the opposite of what he does.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑27 Nov 2018, 04:44How many fights actually end up being all-out wars? Boxers always say that before fights to sell tickets/PPVS, hardly ever really happens. And especially where Fury is involved.
He still seems in a fragile state of mind when talking about his past issues., I do wonder where he will go from here, win or lose.

Still got a feeling this gets called off , especially after seeing how many seats still left to sell. I'm sure if this was in Manchester or London it would have been a sell out and it's surprising the Yanks don't seem interested in it

Does anyone know if this will be broadcast on the radio?

America is a big place. Boxing isn’t even in the top 5 for sports in the States. So when someone says Wilder’s backyard, they should mean Alabama.
An average show in the States only sell around 5k tickets.
Wilder has always sold over 10k in his home state. He done well at Barclays and fought once at MGM Grand. Maybe they had to settle for Staples..

The open opportunity will present itself v. a game but outmatched Fury. A lot of Wilder opponents don't provide enough fight to create an opening like we'll see Saturday. I predict some early round success for Fury and then Tyson will begin to loosen up too much, creating the opening Wilder needs to bomb him out. A fast closing "one-two" like what Stiverne ran into in their rematch.

I'm hoping Wilder wins really as i don't like Fury or his style, but i can see him causing Wilder lots of problems, interesting clash of styles thoughoogiebe wrote: ↑27 Nov 2018, 14:46Yup and thereafter we'll have some other topic to kick the dead horse with!
