I'm not trolling, whatever that is, I think Wilder seems like a good bloke and he's having a great career. With my objective head on though, I'm looking through his resume and I'm not blown away by the names on there. I'm watching videos of him, yes I see the knockouts but I also see him falling over his feet, looking wide open and waving his arms around when he gets into trouble. For whatever reason, when I see him fight I'm just not thinking 'yes, this guy is top drawer'. Granted, he is dispatching these guys, but not always without making a slog of it, so he's clearly a level above them. I'm not saying he's awful, can't box, or anything like that. I just wonder if we've got another Michael Grant here, comes in with a fearsome reputation but gets quickly found out at the very top level and collapses when he gets chinned. Am I being too harsh here, how reasonable an opinion is that?

No your not being harsh , its true , his opposition has been poor to say the least , Can't help but thing Slappsy Calazgie and Lacy . , Its what makes this fight so intriguingstufm wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 06:22 I'm not trolling, whatever that is, I think Wilder seems like a good bloke and he's having a great career. It's a fair assessment.
If it were not for Wilder's power this would be a total mismatch for me.
I'm still expecting Fury to win easily but Wilder will have the power to end the fight at any time with a single shot so will be an ever-present danger. I think Fury's movement though will give him kittens as Wilder needs to plant his feet to throw his big right hand and I can see him being totally frustrated and maybe even stopped late after being dominated.
This will be Fury's come out fight I think and I actually expect him to beat AJ even easier as AJ doesn't hit as hard and is more static.

I think you are being a bit harsh.
Yes he has shown he can be outboxed but
there is no sign of him giving up or collapsing when getting hit (he came through a tough spot Vs Ortiz).
Despite his flaws he's already at the top table and seems to have a decent engine to go with the proven power.
Fury is the one with more questions to answer for me. To win he'll need to be as sharp as he was in the Klitschko fight and get his punch output up. He won't get given rounds just for slipping shots over there.

Szplika jumped into wilders shot head first. Duhaupas was taking full power shot after full power shot & didn't go down. Ortiz had him out on his feet before the extra recovery time for wilder, ortiz got careless & caught, waived off instantly. Fairly refereed ortiz wins this fight.
Tell me one other name on wilder's record any of the actual top contenders would not have beaten without problems?

Wilder was also being comfortably outboxed by Washington before stopping him.

Yes, but I think aside from one fight (and I still think it was a pretty awful performance) we could say the EXACT same thing about Fury.
Yes, people bring out the Chisora fights....... and yes he did a job on Chisora both times, especially fight 2. However, I still also think Chisora was 1) Clearly out of shape for fight 1, and 2) Lots of gym rumours about his health for fight 2.
Yes, possibly harsh - but then probably his next best opponent was Cunnigham who floored him, Hammer - C Level and I can barely remember who else he's fought - we could be seriously suggesting his next best opponent after Hammer was John McDermott.
Its a fascinating fight - both seem to be flawed fighters and characters.

I think the first Chisora fight was close. I thought Fury just shaded if I remember right.stujones wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 07:28 Yes, but I think aside from one fight (and I still think it was a pretty awful performance) we could say the EXACT same thing about Fury.

People rating Wilder highly are way premature, he has a lot to prove.
As I've said before imo Fury at 60% beats him.
They jumped at the Fury fight because of his layoff.

I think you're right in your opinion of wilder
Re: Wilder is amateur-ish, fought C-level comp and his chin is unproven. Too harsh?
I actually think Fury has an awful lot to prove. He beat Wlad, who had struggled with Jennings and we need to see more than that one win to see what he has. In history, lot of people had one big win but subsequent outings end up with the impression that it was probably a case of catching the right guy on the right night

No Fury bossed the first fight, it was just slightly more competitive than the secondShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 07:39I think the first Chisora fight was close. If Wilder gets the KO his best wins will be an old man & a guy who was 30stone only 12months earlier.
Re: Wilder is amateur-ish, fought C-level comp and his chin is unproven. Too harsh?
He's a decent enough boxer in a very poor division. He's got 40 wins & been a world champion for almost four years & yet we still don't know how good he is because he's barely faced anyone. Against Fury we'll get a better idea of how good he is.
If I wanted to be positive I'd point out that regardless of the level of his opponents he's an exciting fight who has had 40 fights, is undefeated & 39 KO's. That's not bad going in anyone's book. Plus he's accepted the Fury fight which for whatever reason AJ was reluctant to do.

Before the first stiverne fight i thought exactly the same but against stiverne he showed he can box against Spitzer he showed he could box abit too he was looking for the shot that nearly decapitated Spitzer, against ortiz he was looking for shot that got ortiz too and he showed he could tough it out when he got hurt. He hasnt fought anyone of note apart from ortiz but who is there? There is Joshua,Parker,Whyte,Povetkin and now miller is breaking into the top half of the heavyweight division other than these guys there's tyson fury who has only just came back, the talent in the heavyweight division is shallow and this isnt wilders fault so he can only fight a certain few guys. You dont win olympic medals if you cant box i just think he has changed his approach to the pro game and used his power more than boxing to get him were he is.

Wilder's record and title defences are beautiful on the paper and disappointing in the reality. The Gypsy King will end this embarrassing reign.

I wouldn't say it's too harsh as long as fury is a pillow fisted oaf that has faced c+ opposition.

I think he did face c+ level fighters and earned hsi way to no.1 contender to klitschko then gave his career best performance without throwing too many punches against the mummy version of klitschko but fury didnt know the mummy version would show up so credit to fury as for wilder he has faced b- fighters all the way through his career all the way to ortiz but claims he is no.1 in the world lol,he is the most dangerous man in the division but he is no.1. Fury will show him up on saturday, have him chasing shadows all night till the kate rounds then i see fury putting him away between 10-12Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 11:05 I wouldn't say it's too harsh as long as fury is a pillow fisted oaf that has faced c+ opposition.

The heavyweight division is essentially a freakshow where exceptional physical attributes win the day over solid fundamentals.
But it's the HWs. Wilder has all the speed size and athleticism of an NBA player with incredible punch power. He literally slingshots bombs across the ring. It's quite something really and brilliant to watch imo.
Fury when he tries to box, weave, slide off the ropes... He's so clumsy in doing it that he looks like your fat drunk uncle at a party doing impressions of Floyd. But a guy that size, 6 ft 9 with a 7ft reach is actually very hard to beat when he just twitches on the outside and pumping that bargepole of a jab to maintain distance.

Wilder can take a punch. He took a brutal left hand off Molina in their fight and took it well considering.
If I recall correctly A Force detonated numerous bombs on the button when they had their FOTY contender

He still dominated the fight. He clinched like he usually does. Jab'd like he always did, followed the right hand as he always did, It wasn't his best performance, but it was a good win against a then-up-comer.
