Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
Hearn keeps piping up saying Fury is a boring fighter and a spoiler his only interesting fight is with Cunningham where he got knocked down. Thoughts?
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
Fury is more of a boxer, than a spoiler. He actually was spoiling quite a lot in a Cunningham fight, when he began overpowering him with his size. So Hearn's statement is delusional. Hearn is actually spreading anti-Fury bias, cause he probably sees Wilder as a better opponent for Joshua, thus he wants to make AJ-Wilder fight more, than Fury-AJ.
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
early in his career he was a fun fighter
but as time went on, after some scares, he became a totally negative 'nullifying' fighter. wlad was like that but at least had power for some added interest
ppl go on about the wlad fight sucking, but chisora 2 was even worse. chisora rematch, hammer, and wlad all sucked

Tyson Fury is not an exciting boxer. However, if you appreciate the art of boxing, especially at the HW level, he is not boring.
I did not find the Wlad fight as boring as most of his critics did. Fury caught Wlad on a flat night and he boxed beautifully to legitimately take the crown.
I expect that this will be a much more eventful 12 rounds, one way or the other.

dont agree with that at all even assuming fury really is this highly skilled big man, you can appreciate something while being bored by it, i have no idea why so many ppl act like those are joint things
to me that always seems like some self satisfying 'im into deeper things' stuff

Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
It was not meant to come across that way. I did not get into boxing for knuckle dragging droolers exchanging blows like drunks on a Saturday night or Rockem Sockem Robots.jamamb wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 11:19 dont agree with that at all even assuming fury really is this highly skilled big man, you can appreciate something while being bored by it, i have no idea why so many ppl act like those are joint things

I appreciate a boxer who can do damage while avoiding it. If a boxer can win a high level fight against a far more powerful and accomplished foe, I enjoy watching it, no matter how few total blows are landed.
I also appreciate great fights between tremendous boxers, like the Pac v JMM series, SRL v Hitman, etc.
Wlad was more boring than Fury for me. Thank goodness he capped his career with an epic battle, going out on his shield.

Casual fight fans clearly prefer to watch ‘Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots’ slugging it out, rather than fighters that perceive the sport as being a ‘Sweet Science’.
I’ll concede that Fury hasn’t got an aesthetically-pleasing fighting style, since his approach is an acquired taste only appreciated by the palates of the very hardest of hard-core fight fan aficionados. It is, however, very effective.
To plagiarise on of my favourite boxing scribes:
Casuals will inevitably say that [Tyson Fury] is boring, but I think the truth here is that to those who appreciate execution of the sweet science, he’s far from it, and at the end of the day, the real reason people find his ability to be boring is because it usually means absolute domination.
Absolute domination is absolute domination, and when a man can separate himself from a competitor by being that good, it simply makes for an uneventful evening that just feels bad!
Here's the deal: A "fight" is only a "fight" when one man hits the other and the other can hit him back. It's not much of a "fight" when one of them knows how to "box", because in "boxing" you win by OUT "BOXING" the opposite "fighter".
So it has to be Tyson’s objective to “bore” mainstream casuals by preventing his bout against Wilder from becoming a “fight”, by preventing his American rival from returning fire by any means necessary. The Brit needs to dominate ‘The Bronze Bomber’ for the entirety of the bout!
None of us should expect Fury to attempt to entertain fight fans by adding some "excitement" to the contest, because it’s clearly not in his own best interests!

Yeah, only casuals, who are rather fans of fighting, than boxing, can call Fury boring. Fury's style displays quite impressive skills, that's why he's interesting to watch.
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
nah thats just stupid, you can be a full fan of boxing without being entertained by a particular style

We'll see how big it is. I'm expecting it to tank on ppv here.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 13:19He's gutted he isn't involved with the biggest HW this year IMOguysecretan wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 10:15 Hearn keeps piping up saying Fury is a boring fighter and a spoiler his only interesting fight is with Cunningham where he got knocked down. 100% agree. Marketing / advertising for this event has been utterly inadequate, beginning with the location chosen right on down through the ludicrous undercard.

Any Joshua fight is the biggest heavyweight fight of the year though. In terms of sales, money and all that bollocks I mean. That’s all Hearn cares about doesn’t he?Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 13:19He's gutted he isn't involved with the biggest HW this year IMOguysecretan wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 10:15 Hearn keeps piping up saying Fury is a boring fighter and a spoiler his only interesting fight is with Cunningham where he got knocked down. Joshua makes more money fighting you or me than Fury and Wilder will make combined fighting each other this Saturday. Eddie and his like are all about the £££

That's not even venturing into the championship games and two stacked UFC ppvs later this month. Their best bet is if they can snag some buys if Stevenson/gvodzyk is a real war.
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
I take back a portion of what I posted. The Adonis v Gvodzyk fight makes this a better card than most boxing PPVs. I overlooked that, which completely affects my decisionmaking process related to this PPV.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Nov 2018, 14:22That's not even venturing into the championship games and two stacked UFC ppvs later this month. That is just more evidence that they are NOT properly promoting this fight.
Do you know if it is PPV in Canada?

Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
It is. That should have a significant positive impact on ppv sales.

Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
It's on Showtime before the Showtime ppv.
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
He was definitely doing it in the Cunningham fight. Also, the way he stopped Cunningham might've been illegal. He held Cunningham's face and hit him with a huge shot.
Re: Tyson Fury a spoiler + boring fighter?
ya so you can watch possibly the best fight of the night without paying for the mismatch mania ppv lol
