Hurd's always super exciting. Glad this is on the card. Jarret Hurd vs. Erislandy Lara reminded me a lot of Winky Wright vs. Shane Mosley

Lara has caught a lot of flack for being boring over the years, but if you look at his body of work, he has been one the more entertaining fighters over the last ten years.

Erislandy has been the avoided not the avoider.

dont agree at all, his fights vs hurd and angulo were good but hes had far more meh fights that were nothing notable at all for action or fun, and hes had some downright terrible fights

fights like gausha, rodriguez, smith, zaveck, foreman, etc were just totally limp. id say 1 good fight in last 5 years , even hurds opponent welborn has been in more good fights then that in the last year or 2!

one of the most entertaining in the last 10? sorry but thats a big lolz for me, many many more fighters over the last 10 who are better entertainment value

WBA/IBF 154-POUND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – 12 Rounds

Jarrett Hurd – 152 ½ lbs.
Jason Welborn – 152 ½ lbs.

Referee: Dr. Lou Moret (Calif.).

Judges: Sergio Caiz (Calif.), David Sutherland (Oklahoma), Patrick Russell (Calif.)

Who said Hurd struggles to make weight? He makes it okay. He did admit he won’t be there long. He wants Charlo after this...

Both came way below weight

did you see either of the Langford fights Beardie?
They were crackers! Everyone that saw them would vote for Langford/Welborne 111
And that might even happen next year if Jason still has his head attached to his neck after this upcoming beatdown.

I initially guess Hurd would get around $500k, which was what he got for Lara.. I thought that cuz there might not have been much PPV money to go round.. but I guessed wrong.

I guessed Welborn would get no more than $100k.. got that one wrong.

$30k is around £23k.. obviously he’ll get taxed, but it’s probably his highest payday. He turned down Heffron for this. Who would say no to a world title opportunity?

He’s gonna get more than that from UK TV rights.

I remember Cleverley’s purse vs. Jack was listed as $100k and Jack got paid $700k.. but Clev earned much more from UK TV rights as it was box office.

Quigg’s purse vs. Valdez was $100k, but earned nearly £500k via British TV rights. Even though that fight was not PPV. Sky have a budget anyway.

I’m guessing BT will too.

Like Langford 111?
I remember them both saying they would do it again for some decent money next time.

Fighting each other over 100 times makes no sense

:salut: thanks for the tip, Kiwi. I will check them out.

I get a lot more entertainment value out of watching Lara fights than most, I suppose. I also, enjoyed Wlad v Fury more than most.

That makes Hurd v Welborne more interesting. At least he will give while being beaten senseless.
