Wonder if his PED use is still reaping benefits? :shame:

If his chin were better he wouldn't have gone down and had that recovery time, so he might've been stopped from accumulation. If he knew how to wrestle he'd be fun to watch in the UFC, because it'd be hard to finish him on the ground with strikes.

I'll never understand how McCall took what he did. His is still the all-time chin for my money.

Best I’ve seen in my lifetime of watching boxing.
I remember Lewis turning to the ref, with a, “you gotta stop it - I’m hitting at will” face and the ref shrugging like, “well he’s not going down..?”
So Lewis banged him with a really sharp left-right combo. McCall barely budged and Lewis rolled his eyes at the ref and did it again with real spite..
McCall just stood there crying and staring out the ring like he’d been hit by a toddler with a wiggle bat..!

Well, I’m absolutely no Tyson Fury fan, but presumably it’s now pretty clear that he can be hit and hurt but has a decent chin and good recovery speed.

He's got heart, and a strong will to win no question. Not many guys would've got up from that 12th round knockdown. I thought that was curtains for sure.

I don't know if his chin is all that great honestly, that 1st knockdown didn't seem like anything especially devastating landed, but he's hard to hit clean.

I was shocked when the ref started the count. Most ref's would of waved it off right then and there.
Fury looked done. I was more shocked when he got up. Unbelievable recovery. :yay:
His chin might not be the greatest but his ability to bounce back is unreal :TU:

That count was quite quick.. It’s a 10 count but is normally around 20 plus.. Fury was up at 9

I’m saying many many refs would have waved it off when he hit the canvas unconscious and that he took longer than ten seconds to get up.

He did seem to have an extra 5 seconds or so of recovery time after standing. I didn't pay real close attention to the count because I honestly thought it was over. I'll watch it all closer when I see it again next week.

After counting refs always check, if boxers are really ready, that's the normal thing, which can be rationally used.

He kinda walked away from the ref in a daze. As I understand it, the rule is generally you gotta be up AND ready to continue at 10. He needed an extra few seconds, but in all fairness to the ref I don't fault him for allowing it to continue under the circumstances.

Yeah it’s pretty much standard nowadays, 10 seconds to beat the count then usually another 10-20 seconds while the referee faffs around with checks. It’s annoying sometimes as a fan, but better safe than sorry.

In this fight ref asked to walk in a side and back. It's not a constant rule. Refs usually ask just to raise hands and/or step forward, but now he made it that way.

Maybe you need to work on your counting try 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi maybe you will get closer.. As the ref goes over to him his eyes are open.. He is up for the ten and shows he’s ready to continue the fact he survived and was on top at the end shows your wrong and the ref was right.. From the fighter hitting the canvas to them being allowed to continue is always 20 secs plus.. Whyte v Parker was 100 times worse.. Maybe you should show some respect to fellow fighters seems to be something you lack

a smart fighter looking to maximize recovery keeps the actual count in mind , always annoys me when ppl say douglas shouldve been counted out vs tyson, he was totally aware of the situation and was looking right to the ref and taking advantage of every bit of time the ref gave. if the refs count to 9 takes 16 seconds, why bother to get up in 9 seconds?

fury last night was looking right at the ref too, i think he was in control of his situation, but its true we dont know for sure

No need, there is an on screen round timer ticking down.
He is rising as ten seconds strikes.
I said the count was longer than ten seconds, it was. You said that it’s usually 20 plus, it is not. Yes from boxer hitting the floor to restarting the contest is longer than ten seconds, but that wasn’t in question nor was it what you said.
The Whyte v Parker referee was worse yes.
What have I said that’s disrespectful?

It was over 20secs from the count starting to the restart. The clock is on screen if you watch it again.

Rewatched the 12th round knockdown from a different angle (audience level) and Fury got up faster than I initiatially thought. In the moment it felt like forever, but in retrospect there is no controversy what so ever.

I agree there was none. However, there's a surprising amount of idiots who believe Wilder was robbed and say "slow count", or even say Fury was knocked out (which is ridiculous).

He might have been knocked out actually, but it was only brief, and hitting the canvas woke him back up if so.
