When Tyson Fury fought big John McDermott the first time, he clearly lost, but he accepted the win given to him by the ref. Cost me over 300 quid as i had bets on Wilder by KO but it was excellent by the ref, he didn't shit the bed, even at 6 Fury hadn't moved at all but the ref kept going.

I'm glad he did because Fury beat the count by the skin of his teeth then miraculously fired off the better shots in the remainder of the round.

Agree completely. I think AJ's counterpunching is underrated and I could see him counterring Wilder's right hand to devastating effect. But I think Fury could beat him in a messy close fight.

That said, I wouldn't bet any money on Fury beating AJ.. AJ has an awful lot going for him in that fight. I was really impressed by the way Joshua found a way to beat Povetkin.

Fury is beefing about being robbed, but several years ago now, he was quite happy to accept the decision in a fight he quite definitely lost. He needs to shut up and be grateful the ref didn't wave the fight off when he hit the canvas. OK he did recover but the ref didn't know that and neither did anyone else. He could have been seriously injured. Seems to me those who are pro Fury and the man himself are unwilling to accept he came very close to losing, so he should think himself lucky that he got a draw.

If Wilder with his wild swings can hit Fury , i've no doubt AJ who is getting better all the time will land , difference is AJ will finish better . Wilder for me is a bigger risk to AJ , he actually boxes better than i though him and AJ is simple whoever lands first

Fury should be grateful that the ref administered a proper count? I don’t see why, that’s the ref’s job. We’re just so used to seeing terrible referees in the UK that we seem to have forgotten how it’s done.

Joking aside, Fury's performance (which was actually not quite as good as I expected from him) has some otherwise sane people talking bollocks... Which, I suppose, they all were before the fight as well ("Fury'll get done inside five rounds etc etc etc").

Fury - huge, uncoordinated giant, but with delightful 'purist' style and no power.
Wilder - Spindly sub 220lber, but with dynamite power.

All odd, then you have the top prospect Joe Joyce
Joyce - A slow golem in treacle, but an Olympic medalist that can do gymastic backflips ?!

You could almost play Heavyweight Rock-Paper-Scissors with that lot !

Joshua would at least work the jab in as opposed to constantly cocking the right ready to unload, Joshua can be a slow starter these days we seen how Povetkin was able to outbox him and he struggled to get him into a rythym against Takam, Fury would start off in control i'd imagine, Joshua would press as the fight wore on with a lot more intelligence than Wilder though, its a great match up, Joshua's recouperitve powers have looked solid so far as well

Fury boxes well but gets caught every fight, doesn't have anything like enough in his shots to stop Joshua throwing caution to the wind at some stage.

I think that Fury can outbox Joshua, but he'll never win a decision unless it's clear as day, and he's not nearly as great as that. Only a handful in history were. If he wants to win on points he'll have to throw more than he'd like to, and then Joshua can get to him. If he stays mobile it could be another Hughie versus Parker and Pulev, else it might be a Graham-Jackson.

Agreed about AJ-Wilder. Wilder spins between dangerous and fragile on a dime. Joshua should have too much, but if Wilder lands early then it's probably over.

Fury has unorthodox skills that will give Joshua too many problems. Unless Joshua can bang him out I think the Gypsy King will manoeuvre a points decision.
