Re: Jack Reiss gave Fury exactly 22 seconds in the 12th round knockdown
Most boxers receive more than the stipulated ten seconds whenever they suffer a heavy knockdown, because the ref has to ascertain the whether or not the fighter has sufficiently recovered in order to resume the contest. This is especially true for the final round of a world championship bout.
Have you ever seen the final round of the first bout between Julio César Chávez and Meldrick Taylor, where the fight was deemed by many to have been stopped prematurely?
There’s no scandal here. No one is complaining about the ref’s actions during the 12th round, apart from a select handful of die-hard Wilder supporters.

Wilder fans mentioning this is a bit rich following the whole stalled start of a round against Ortiz...

I've said it before..
Jack Reiss is arguably the best ref in the biz today. He always communicates with the boxers and he did a great job last night..

Took a little long to restart it imo but overall it was good work by the ref.

Definitely was noticeable, still a great recovery and not abhorrent Reffing that completely determined the outcome like Castillo/Chico. Hopefully he put an end to asshats complaining about round eight.
Re: Jack Reiss gave Fury exactly 22 seconds in the 12th round knockdown
Even Malignaggi speaks out about how they're helping Wilder.

It wasn't even at the start of the round. The round was underway and they saw that Wilder was still rubber legged and on queer street from the previous round. The TV announcer, Malignaggi I think, yelled, "They can't do that!" They don't even want you to remember it. Whenever I bring it up the Wilder fans here Troll the thread. That was totally unprecedented and Ortiz should have been declared the winner or at least the fight a NC or at least an immediate rematch ordered. Instead it was memory holed. On the other hand Reiss' actions were more or less normal, tho Fury did get a little more time than the average. Reiss is a good ref. A lesser - or some crooked Las Vegas - ref would have waived the fight off. I've never seen anything like that recovery by Fury. I don't think anyone has.

You said it yourself, Reiss' behavior was normal; the interrupting rd. 8 to give rubber legged Wilder a break was unprecedented, and like Malignaggi said, They can't do that.jamamb wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 12:39 that whole 'go ever there and come bac' stuff is very wdespread these days in the us. they must have recently made it a policy or something

Re: Jack Reiss gave Fury exactly 22 seconds in the 12th round knockdown
I'm a Wilder fan. I predicted Wilder by KO 5-6th round. I saw the 12th round knockdown and had no thoughts of anything "out of the ordinary" in how the referee handled the KD, except that it was perfectly done. Kudos to Tyson Fury for an amazing effort and extraordinary recuperative powers to get up from the 12th round knockdown. I hope they have a rematch and settle all of this more definitively. Can't wait to see the fight and score it for myself.
Re: Jack Reiss gave Fury exactly 22 seconds in the 12th round knockdown
Fury di an amazing job finishing that fight. The ref did an excellent job.
Please move on from this subject.
