It added about 20 seconds recovery time, it's a ludicrous rule. Why not just say all fighters have 30 seconds to recover?

Yeah they have increased the 10 count in america it seems

If fury doesn't get extra time there he gets stopped for me.

Well boxer has 10 seconds to get up.. Once they're up, I don't mind the 'walk to me' or whatever it was.. Some boxers get up way too fast (Zab Judah and a lot of others have done).. So all this additional stuff might take another 5-10 seconds, but it's a big indication as to how the boxer is feeling. If he cant walk in a straight line towards the ref, then it will be stopped. It's the boxers health at stake, no one else.

Fury has turned me into a fan over the past 12 months,I think he would beat both wilder and AJ,if he would of followed up on a few of the one two's he hit wilder with he would of had wilder under presure and got him out of there but stil I felt he won the fight. People go on about AJ's heart after the klitschko knockdown but if wilder had hit AJ with the shot he hit fury with,AJ would still be asleep now

It was miraculous how he got up and came back from that. Truly Holmes/Shavers territory.

Can you imagine Terry O'Connor or Howard Foster seeing Fury like that. They'd have shat themselves and started waving like the Queen instantly.
That is the first thing I thought of post fight......it is why referee's should always issue a ten count.

Disagree. When Pacquiao knocked out Hatton Kenny Bayless got some stick for counting too llong when it was obvious Hatton needed a doctor, fast.

Yeah it's a judgment call.

His eyes were open and he was watching the count so its fine to give him a chance.

Good refereeing. I thought the referee was excellent throughout. No bias unlike many referees we see who are pro house fighters, especially on UK cards it saddens me to say.

No pleasing some people though.

Not really....he hit the deck at 2.23 and the fight resumed at 2.02.

The referee issues the count and then did a couple of checks to make sure that Fury was in a fit state to continue. The referee was right to do the checks given that it was such a heavy KD. Had Fury not passed the checks in his mind he'd have stopped the fight. But Fury responded well and so the fight continued.

The referee did a good job.

In the case of Benn/McClellan........that is exaggerated ayway, from Benn hitting the deck till McClellen was able to attack him again, only about 19 seconds had elapsed.

And the reality is Benn actually could have been given several minutes to recover given that McClellan hit him with at least 2 punches whilst Benn was only being held up by the ropes and so was technically down.

Far more disturbing and wrong was the 23 extra seconds that Wilder given to recover against Ortiz when the referee inexplicably decided to ask the doctors opinion after Wilder had already had a minute on his stool between rounds 7-8 of that fight.

10 seconds wouldn't make any real difference.....but in that instance it was clear Hatton was out cold, but I'm talking about situations where a fighter is down but not out cold and referee's call it off without giving them the 10 count to recover.

It is a judgement call to a degree.....but far too many referee's race to a judgement and start flapping their hands around as soon as a fighter hits the deck following a heavy KD. Just issuing a simple count of 10 takes the controversy away.

That. plus ortiz, who slumped down on his knees hurt, but wasn't "out" at all, was then waived off hysterically & instantly by the ref standing over him with ortiz's head between his legs even putting his arms on the cuban's shoulders to prevent even an attempt to get back on his feet and continue.

Ortiz would've literally had the ref on his shoulders should he have tried to get up, which he didn't cause the ref waived the fight off there & then without even starting to count out a fighter who was hurt but in no way "out".

Robbed of the opportunity to recover during the count, during the check if he's able to continue & robbed of the chance to continue in a fight most observers had him ahead on points. In a fight, he worked his whole career to get, for the heavyweight championship of the world. Heartbreaking and just disgusting to watch.

Pure Corruption.

difference is overstated imo....josh has layed guys out too and wilder has had fights where he pounded on guys but couldnt drop them, like duhaupas and stiverne 1. wilder has had fights like molina where the guy kept getting up or like arreola where it was a prolonged beatdown and retirement not ktfo.

both have won only 1 fight by decision.

dont know why ppl act like aj cant put anyone down while wilder is ktfoing guys as soon as he touches them

both hit very hard and hard enough to ko fury. i think aj can finish better then wilder

Wilder seemed extremley confident that Tyson Fury would not be getting off the canvas in round 12,
looking how he re-acted when Fury was still laying prone on the canvas.
It must have really damaged his mental state when they declared the fight a Draw.

I kinda doubt anybody that is thinking about offing themselves is suddenly not going to over Tyson Fury, but if it makes you feel better to think so go for it.

You're wasting your time trying to change my opinion on him.

I disagree with you there. Boxing is the most inspiring sport of all. If Tyson Furys comeback inspires even 1 person who is suffering with depression to grab some running shoes and hit the gym, it's worth it.

Fwiw I'm a pretty good bullshit detector- i fully believe Fury is sincere when he talks about being depressed and in a bad place.

I don't agree with his proclamation that it's the best comeback ever though, someone should tell him who Danny Jacobs is :TU:

Wilders right hand is the hardest punch in boxing. Even on a brit forum you'll struggle to get many agreeing with you. Outside of the UK, virtually nobody will agree with you.
