No, I don't agree at all.

Bernard Hopkins and George Foreman would have had to retire at 40 if this was a rule. I think each boxer is different. Level of skill, brain scans, record, wear and tear, and recent losses all have to be considered.

if this is about stevenson, how do we know it was age? loads and loads of young men die or are permanently injured in the ring. and the vast majority even of 'old fighters' dont get this either
it can just happen, boxing is hard for any age
you need to look at it by case, clearly some guys around 40 are still handy. have each fighter do medicals etc and see whats up.

Yeah why not. But to balance things out, fighters should not be permitted to retire until they reach 40.

Hell no I don't agree
There are many fighters who achieve great things after 40. Tragedies can happen in the ring to a 20 year old the same as they can happen to a 40 year old.

Somebody can efectively compete at 45 and be at prime in his 40. Somebody is done in 35. But 45 years and over should be forbidden IMO.

It would not be unreasonalbe to check the health of fighters over 40 with more scrutiny.
More so if they have already had a long career.

everyone willing to compete at any age should be allowed to do so (except of people with mental disorder)

One one hand I think everyone should be allowed to do what they want. I'd you want to box at 40 and you have trained and the matchup is within your grasp to win. Go for it.
On the other hand, I feel sorry for those who box past 40 because they have to. Money problems and the inability to earn in other ways should not be a reason to take fights that will risk your health.

Too general. I've seen fighters over 40 who were still competitive and healthy, and I've seen fighters in their early to late twenties and thirties who were shot. We all have. Case by case basis. Perhaps more pro-active medical testing needs to be a standard moving forward. Could save lives.
