Who would win the heavyweight match up between former WBA Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Ellis and contender to both Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Doug Jones as both had similar weight? Would Ellis out-box and out-pace Jones behind his left jabs and combinations, while moving around the ring to take a decision or Jones would spoil Ellis?

Again I have to against Doug Jones. He had good wins against Zora Folley and Bob Foster, but the Jimmy Ellis who defeated Leotis Martin, Bonavena and Quarry would beat him. Probably on points, but a stoppage would not be out of the question.

Probably to no one's surprise, I would take Ellis in this one, even though Jones knocked out Bob Foster, who is in the IBHOF. Jimmy Ellis beat Billy Daniels and George Chuvalo, who both beat Doug Jones. Jones was stopped by Chuvalo. A 33 year old Ellis gave Boone Kirkman a good fight, but lost on a split decision for 10 rounds in Kirkman's home town of Seattle. Jones was KO'd by Kirkman.

Ellis was too fast for Jones, as he was for Chuvalo.
