Rau'shee Warren vs. Nordine Oubaali (Vacant WBC Title) - January 19, 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The president of the World Boxing Council revealed that it will be in October when the Frenchman Nordine Oubaali (14-0, 11 KOs) and American Olympian Rau'shee Warren (16-2, 4 KOs) will be measured for the bantamweight championship left vacant by Mexican bomber Luis 'Panterita' Nery.

Nery was removed of the title when he couldn't make the weight for his rematch with Shinsuke Yamanaka, which took place in the first quarter of the year.

"The vacant bantamweight title is assigned to the fight between Oubaali and Warren," said Mauricio Sulaiman, head of the WBC, to ESPN Deportes. "The fight is going to be in October, but they have not informed us of the precise day."

A good and technical bout between two good fighters with big amateur pedigrees. I vote for Oubaali via KO/TKO.

Oubaali beat Warren at the 2012 Olympics. And then lost to Mick Conlan.

Nordine Oubaali and Rau'shee Warren will fight for a vacant bantamweight world title and former two-division world titlist Rances Barthelemy will return from a nine-month layoff on Dec. 22, a source with knowledge of the plans told ESPN on Wednesday.

Both bouts will take place on the undercard of the Premier Boxing Champions on Fox card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, though those bouts are not slated for the network broadcast, which is a tripleheader co-headlined by twins Jermall and Jermell Charlo in separate title bouts.

Oubaali (14-0, 11 KOs), 32, a 2008 and 2012 Olympian from France, and former bantamweight world titlist Warren (16-2, 4 KOs), 31, of Cincinnati, the only three-time American Olympic boxer, will fight for the 118-pound belt left vacant when Luis Nery was stripped in March for being overweight for a defense against Shinsuke Yamanaka.

In an opening round fight at the 2012 London Games, Oubaali defeated Warren, 19-18.

According to Le Equipe, Nordine Oubaali (14-0, 11 KOs) will finally go for the vacant WBC bantamweight championship on January 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

He will face Rau'shee Warren as part of the Showtime Pay-Per-View card which features Manny Pacquiao defending his WBA "regular" welterweight title against former four division champion Adrien Broner in the main event.

Originally scheduled for Dec. 22 at the Barclays Center in New York, the fight was pushed back by nearly a month. The change of date suits Ali Oubaali, the coach of his brother, because he can be in the corner of Estelle Mossely on December 22 at the casino Deauville. That night, the Olympic lightweight champion will take part in her third pro fight.

I didn’t even know Warren was still boxing. He was an Olympian, right?

Just twice? Feels like it's been rescheduled loads more, and that's ignoring the fact Oubaali was originally suppised to fight Petch in summer. A huge cluster fornicate by all involved. Awful mess from the WBC

Well at least it’ll be over with. I take it this fight will probably be before Jack-Browne and then Pac-Broner..
