Anthony Fowler
Why is he always fighting TBA? It is getting incredibly boring now. He was a decent amateur and they are bringing him along at snails pace?!
I can't remember what card it was (I know Fowler beat O'Brien) but Hearn said he was fighting Brook's opponent Zerafa for the Commonwealth. Why is he in with Brook if Fast Car was going to stick him in with 'The Machine'.
Also, I find irritating is that he posts a million selfies and everybody says who are you fighting and he ignores the question but will answer the Twitter keyboard crunchers saying 'You're the best Anthony' .

Re: Anthony Fowler
From what I have seen of him, he needs has a lot to learn,
Re: Anthony Fowler
having seen him spar last week, he is an absolute monster at the weight. huge wingspan.
Re: Anthony Fowler
Maybe a fight with MTKs Kieran Smith who just won World Boxing Council International Silver Super Welterweight Title could be made

Re: Anthony Fowler
Don't rate Fowler very highly, he is decent and probably will win some domestic honours down the line but he is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.
I agree that his opposition has been poor particularly when compared to other former ameteurs of a similar generation, i.e Kelly, Joyce and Taylor.

Re: Anthony Fowler
Apart from the level of opposition I don't really get the hate for Fowler regarding him being pony and getting exposed when he steps up, not so much on here but on twitter most people don't rate him at all and see him as one of Sky's hype machines, I think he's looked pretty good so far, he's been destroying guy guys the way you'd expect a good fighter to, the 154 division is packed with monsters but Fowler looks of similar ilk himself i'd say
Obviously there' still a lot of questions and his opposition has got to step up but so far so good from where I'm sat, Kelly, Cordina or Buatsi have never had to deal with the same sort of flak

Re: Anthony Fowler
He's another example of how modern day pro boxing is so much to do with body composition and weight manipulation. There's a photo of him with Froch & AJ back in team GB days (with froch being pro). He's waaaay bigger than Froch. Properly looks in cruiser territory. Yet as a pro somehow he's fighting 2 divisions below?handsofstone wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 09:52 Apart from the level of opposition I don't really get the hate for Fowler regarding him being pony and getting exposed when he steps up, not so much on here but on twitter most people don't rate him at all and see him as one of Sky's hype machines, I think he's looked pretty good so far, he's been destroying guy guys the way you'd expect a good fighter to, the 154 division is packed with monsters but Fowler looks of similar ilk himself i'd say

Nailed it. The backlash stems from how Kelly, Joyce and especially Taylor have been matched.keirw wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 06:52 Don't rate Fowler very highly, he is decent and probably will win some domestic honours down the line but he is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Fowler has a really nice Am pedigree and it is no wonder he has been compared to those others. Added to that is his size at the weight.
There must be a reason for these tomato cans. I can't fathom it. Test him, if he comes up short, back to the drawing board.
Re: Anthony Fowler
If he does fight Cheeseman after this one, all is forgiven
Now that will be tasty!

Re: Anthony Fowler
I don’t think Fowler will be world champion material but, I also don’t think they’ve needed l rush him like Kelly, Okolie...
However, I’d like to see him vs Fitzgerald in the new year. He hasn’t earned a bout against Cheeseman for the British at all, that would be a good eliminator.
Speaking of prospects, can’t wait to see Cordina out again.

I like Fowler vs Fitzgerald a lot, stylewise it could be a cracker.TheGingerBomber wrote: ↑06 Dec 2018, 22:45 I don’t think Fowler will be world champion material but, I also don’t think they’ve needed l rush him like Kelly, Okolie...

Your right that he doesn't deserve a shot at Cheeseman.
I'm a bit bias as I am a fan of the Cheese, but I reckon the big ugly bastard would smash Fowler to pieces.

Is he facing Jose Carlos Paz tomorrow?
Re: Anthony Fowler
Good amateur pedigree - with over 200 bouts (including WSB) at 27 years of age, if he is as good as he thinks he is then he needs to be moved on a bit.
His public persona via social media isn't very endearing - when you have fellow scouser Boomer tweeting that although Fowler can come across as a nob, he is a good lad really then it is time to spend less time on his phone and more time in the gym.

Re: Anthony Fowler
Dont rate him at all tbh,he is stiff as a board and has too high opinion of himself,he got stopped in the Olympics in the first round so i dont know why he thinks he is so highly rated. I might be a bit harsh but he isnt british level yet and i dont know if he will get there

His Matchroom spambot Twitter account where he says stupid company things like 'Bellew is the greatest fighter ever from Liverpool, better than Conteh' makes me want to see him sparked out

Re: Anthony Fowler
never been impressed with him. See him box a few times internationally and could never understand why he was kept on by GB. Matchroom seem to love a scouser and it seems to be no different with Fowler. I'd say he's done very well if he gets beyond British level
Re: Anthony Fowler
well he won medals at the worlds and euros, won the commonwealths, made the olympics, etc....clearly had some good results to firm his gb place up. anyone more deserving of a place wouldve prob had to have been very very good as an am
