Very sad. I was a big fan of him after the Woodhall fight. Showed resilience to survive that late onslaught, and to win the title back twice. A bad ass boxer. RIP.

Shocker. The 2nd German who JC should have fought to enhance his reputation/legacy. Spent much of JCs reign in the top 5 super middles.

I remember being gutted when he beat Ritchie Woodhall, then watching the Glenn Cattley replay 'as live' and leaping out my chair in the 12th.

Good fighter. RIP.

Sad news. Beyer was well known to British fans. A high quality, technical boxer with a solid dig. I would have loved to see him box his countryman Sven Ottke. You can only imagine how big that fight would have been in Germany.

Kidney cancer, apparently he was only diagnosed two weeks ago.

That’s what killed my uncle at 48 years of age, it’s a bugger because sometimes it doesn’t show that many symptoms, and when it does it’s to late.

Horrible news. Beyer was a dangerous fighter who picked his shots beautifully and he kept his nose clean in retirement only for this to happen. The good die young.
