Can be interesting. Joyce hasn't faced anyone close to Ortiz' level, but who knows, how far Joyce will develop as a pro. He's not young obviously, but still is fresher, than Ortiz.

I'd like to see it. Joyce is already in his mid 30's they don't really have a lot of time to waste with this guy as far as finding out if he can make it at the top. I don't know if I'd 'jump up as far as Ortiz straight away, but I'd be looking at guys like this by his 10th fight at the latest.

Joyce v the winner of Brezeale v Negron would be interesting.

MAN. I'll be watching that. I think Joyce's handlers are crazy to go after Ortiz, but... I'm eager to see how it pans out.

Joyce's entire pro career is 19 rounds, and he is no Loma. Ortiz will destroy him.

Joyce beats Ortiz. Very good fight for Joyce to take. Totally winnable and would put him in a good position.

I love The Juggernaut but..

As other have said - BIG - step up.
And, IF he wins then that's it ! He can't beat Ortiz then fight Dave Allen for the CommonWealth - it's Top 10 with effectively 1 fight experience.

What would the odds be ? Big fan of JJ - he could beat anyone if they had an off night - but Ortiz is the (slight) favourite, Shirley ?

55/45. Thoughts ?

A big step up but necessary for a boxer of his age as he hopes to reach the upper level while in his athletic prime.

Ortiz will fight at a snail's pace like always. Younger more athletic guy will win here and it's Joyce.

Maybe, but Joyce is slow and very hittable.

Are you sure you're not just embiggening Ortiz 'cos of your man crush on Deontay ?
Great fight this...
I THINK JJ is 55/45 (I@m a big fan) and hope the bookies' line is 55/45 the other way and I can have a bet.
It's tough to even be sure who is the favourite - makes it a great fight :box:

 I am not a “man crush on Deontay” hater, like you and so many out there.

On the subject though, I have no problem with Joyce going after Ortiz. I would enjoy the fight. I think that it is too big a step up, risk wise.

Why not start 2019 v the winner of Breazeale v Negron or maybe Hunter? Decent steps up. Then go for a Parker, Ortiz, or Povetkin.

Joyce was more impressive than Ortiz the other night to the eye, but Ortiz was in with the far more awkward and tough foe. :OhYes:

He's a very likeable and engaging fellow - When he stops all that "Booomb Squaaaaaaaaad" nonsense anyway. I just thought he's not very good.
Last two fights have kinda proved me wrong tho - he's a decent HW in any era. :salut:

As for Joyce - I fancy he'll beat Ortiz, but it's a huge step-up. He could easily get marmalised. :bag:

:salut: I have never been a Wilder fan. I was a Fury fan until he went bumbling blob post Wlad.

After the other night, they have both won me over.

Yes, but Brazeale isn't taking any risks now he has somehow surpassed Whyte into #1 contender/ pretender for Wilders strap.

Joyce style would be better matched against Whyte. Would be a slugfest. Might be too much of step up at this point.

Joyce will make that old man work. He’s a god chance of beating him down the stretch.

Hi Oogie
Yeah I know. He didn't used to be, but I tend to agree. He hasent had a decent fight since his inspiring win against Ungonoh and that was nearly 2 years ago. Wasted career :-?
