Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
At the post fight press conference, Joyce called out Ortiz and said that he would like to face him next. He had also previously called out the hard hitting Cuban over the summer.
BS.com reached out to the Miami based fighter to get his reaction to Joyce's call out.
"I will enjoy fighting Joyce and will enjoy giving him his first career loss but I want him to remember it was him who called me out. I wasn’t looking for him but again if he let his hype men or manager get in his head and thinks he’s that good and he wants it why wait?" said Ortiz to BS.com.
"I don’t turn down fights. It’s a first for me to get called out for a fight. He doesn’t understand that I really enjoy what I do and this is all I know how to do. This is how I put food on the table for my family so say no more, challenge accepted. Let’s do this."
Ortiz's ultimate goal is to secure another title shot and he wants a chance for redemption against Wilder.
He said that he has absolutely no problem facing Joyce next and hopefully another win will put him a step closer to another big fight.
"Look, I just want to keep making a name for myself and maybe get a shot at Wilder again or even Fury or Joshua. If I can’t then I’d love to fight (Dillian) Whyte or even (Alexander) Povetkin would be a good fight for me and I think my true fans would enjoy any of those fights," Ortiz told BS.

Definitely would like to see him against all the top guys, doubt anybody still want's a piece of him. Wilder won't ever put s foot in a ring with ortiz if it's anyhow avoidable.
Hope they make the Joyce bout, i favout ortiz heavily to outbox him decisively, if he wouöd get the decision is a different question.

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Joyce v Breazeale / Negron makes sense.
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
I'd be down for it. I'd probably give Joyce one or two more Top 20 Top 15-ish kinda guy first before going this far up the ladder, but I wouldn't be waiting too much longer to test him against the likes of Ortiz...provided he passes those tests of course.
That being said if I were Ortiz's manager I wouldn't even consider this fight at the moment. Ortiz has everything to lose, and nothing to gain really by beating Joyce. He's already in position where he'd be worthy of a title shot so why take a risk against a dangerous up and comer?

I'd favour Ortiz but fair play to Joyce, he's up for facing anyone, if he wins he's right in the top five.
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Id like to see this next year definitely, I think Ortiz will have too much for Joyce but hats off if he goes for it. Fighting a guy in his 8th fight that Wilder fought in his 40th! No complaints here

I really like this fight and want to see it before Ortiz gets any older....
Joyce has the strength and workrate to grind Ortiz to dust but big slow Joe will be an open target for that cuban missile.

Joyce stops him late on. He will be made to look very poor early but his work rate will see him through and get Ortiz out of there around 9-10
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Ortiz boxes his ears off and puts him to sleep. Joyce is like a really bad robotic AJ.
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Are we taking this as a 12 round fight?
If so, I give Joyce the edge. Ortiz the edge in a 10 round.
Ortiz isn't allowed out of the home for a 12 rounder these days. They pull him back after 10 for his meds and a nap.

depends how joyce absorbs the power. he will be a handful for ortz if he can hold the shots and drag it on.

Ortiz doesn’t seem to have a bad engine for a 10 rounder. Travis was always moving around that night.
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Spot on. Ortiz did what he needed to do and took Kaufman out late. I don't know what everyone is hating on him for.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 15:15 Ortiz doesn’t seem to have a bad engine for a 10 rounder. Travis was always moving around that night.
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
Joyce is crude and does nothing fantastic. However he seems to be a tough guy almost like a heavy version of Froch who can just take it and keep coming I reckon Joyce walks old man Ortiz down with disregard of his power
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
he was fighting at a snails pace and had nothing coming back at him. hardly some sort of stamina test. dont tell me kauff just came to survive but then try to rate up orts engine on that same fight
he seemingly has next to no ability or drive to fight beyond the same pace. hes a bit lazy and imo not in that great of shape, plus hes 40 soon. that gives joyce a chance imo if joyce can drag it out. ortiz is defo more skilled and with good power and far more pro experience , so he could get to joyce before it can happen
ort should be a pretty good fave but id be really interested

Disregarding Ortiz's power is a one way ticket to Dreamland. Ortiz is an older guy, and slow on his feet these days, but he can still crack.

Brave call out by Joyce and one that's fair enough. Ortiz could be his breakout win or his Tony Thompson. It's an interesting one and I hope it happens. I rate Joyce much more highly than most people on here it seems but this is a very, very dangerous fight for him and I back him with no great certainty.
This is shaping up to be a fun era for the big fellas at heavy and cruiser as the lower weights seem to lose their lustre a little.

Joe Joyce: Too old; too slow. Won't get much better if at all. Big John Tate incarnate.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 17:54 Brave call out by Joyce and one that's fair enough. Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
How will Joyce handle 12 rounds?
I'm not doubting he can go 12 but we've never seen him go past 8 and that was in his debut.
Can he handle a good boxer with power for 12 rounds?

I'm real curious if he can.oogiebe wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 18:23Nope.tiny_acres wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 18:22 How will Joyce handle 12 rounds?

If he can he is a serious threat to the division.
But I'm not sold yet.
I do think he's a good heavyweight but not sure about elite just yet
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Joe Joyce? Yes or No?
He's 33 y/o. I keep seeing posts all over the place that Wilder at 33 won't get any better (which he won't)? How is it that Slow Joe Joyce can?tiny_acres wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 18:25I'm real curious if he can.oogiebe wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 18:23Nope.tiny_acres wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 18:22 How will Joyce handle 12 rounds?
