Luke Campbell Back On Canelo-Fielding Or Whyte-Chisora II

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Luke Campbell is looking to return to the ring before the end of the year.

The WBC Silver lightweight champion was last in action in September, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Campbell, 31, outclassed Yvan Mendy at Wembley Stadium, as part of the supporting cast to Anthony Joshua’s WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO world heavyweight title defences against Alexander Povetkin, in a rematch of their December 2015 shock in which the Frenchman floored ‘Cool Hand’ en-route to a split-decision win.

The return, a final eliminator for Mikey Garcia’s WBC lightweight title, was as big a whitewash as could be and has put the Hull man in pole position for another world title shot.

“It was a big relief, to get that win and to close that case,” Campbell, who is trained by Shane McGuigan and was ringside in Glasgow on Saturday to see his gym-mate Josh Taylor retain his WBC Silver title at super-lightweight, told Boxing Scene.

And Campbell, who says he is now back in camp, is hoping for some news on a return sooner rather than later.

“I’ve got a meeting with [my promoter] Eddie [Hearn] this week and we’ll see what’s next for me,” he added. “I want to be active and I want that world title shot, so whether it comes against Garcia or whether he lets go of it and lets me fight someone like [number four-ranked] Javier Fortuna for it, I don’t care – I just want to fight for the world title again.

“One thing I can’t do is sit around and wait and I’m training for a date in December, so I’ll either fight on December 15 or December 22. I’m in full swing now because one date is six weeks away and the other is seven weeks away.”

Campbell revealed he will either be added to the supporting cast of Rocky Fielding’s WBA ‘regular’ super-middleweight title defence against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at Madison Square Garden in New York, exclusively live on Sky Sports and DAZN, on December 15 or the December 22 supporting cast of Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight rematch against Dereck Chisora at the O2 Arena in London, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office and DAZN.

Imagine.

Linares has moved on to 140. He fought Cotto at 140 too and said he would only go down to 135 for Loma rematch. Or Garcia. But then again Garcia can fight at 140.

Linares doesn't turn down fights. I don't think on either of Eddie's cards there is the spare cash to tempt him though :verysad:

Is he just gonna fight an 8-rounder? Staying active?
