Jack Reiss did a great job on Fury vs Wilder fight ; One of the best referees in the game

Post by apollo creed »

“If there was earlier, heavier damage and (Fury) had been hurt. Then he fell like that and hit his head, I would have waived it off. But the fight was so close. The magnitude of the fight, I’ve always been taught to count a champion out,”
“I wanted to give him every opportunity, so I took my time. Not that I stalled the count like these knuckleheads are saying.
“I was patient and I went down to make sure what I was doing was correct. I want to do what’s best for boxing and I always want to do what’s best for boxing”.

No doubt. One of the best refs out there. Only armchair warriors with a simpleton mind would think otherwise. I tip my hat to Mr Reiss! :TU: :salut:

I agree & Jack Reiss always does the same thing. Getting on the knees giving the count in the fighters face. He also gets the guy to walk towards him then away. Yes a guy gets a few extra seconds but he is consistent. He doesn't stop fights early & always gives the 10 count. Yesterday he said he always gives a champion a 10 count & any drunk can walk a straight line so I make them change direction. Here is a perfect example in another fight. He did the same thing to Fury... around the 37 minute mark...

Reiss did a great job. Anyway, Fury was well recovered from the KD far before any 10 seconds went by.

Yeah, Fury was already recovered when he got up. The walking didn't help at all. Fury took a hellacious shot right after and STILL recovered. He has some amazing recovery skills. It's a bit like when N'Dam fought Lemieux and was just getting hammered with some vicious shots. He looked like he got hit with a damn bazooka at one point.

Fury said he was taken the max. amount of time to recover. He could've get up sooner but he wasn't sure how stable his legs were. Reiss work was 100% correct. :TU:
