Ingemar Johansson vs Doug Jones
Ingemar Johansson vs Doug Jones
Would Ingo Bingo knock Doug Jones out in their heavyweight match up or settle for a decision if Jones fight for survival?
Re: Ingemar Johansson vs Doug Jones
Probably Johansson by KO.
Re: Ingemar Johansson vs Doug Jones
Sorry Doug Jones, but I have to go against you once more.
I think it will be a fight where Ingo is using his left a lot while Doug moves around and scores pretty good. Jones could be ahead after maybe five rounds, and then Ingo will land his famous right hand like he did against Patterson and Cooper.
Ingemar was quite good at letting his opponents "fall asleep" and the Boom!

Johansson's game plan was to out-jab Jones and set up his Ingo Bingo right hand to end the fight by a KO in probably the tenth round.
Re: Ingemar Johansson vs Doug Jones
Every now and again someone comes up with a discussion about one punch knockout artists and very often Johansson is forgotten.
I had cause to watch his 3 fights with Patterson again recently, and there is no doubt that Johansson was a very poor boxer, and all he had was the 'Hammer of Thor'. He pushed out his left hand as he he slide backwards( I refuse to call it a jab!!) to keep his opponent away, and wait patiently for a mistake because he had confidence that if the right hand landed cleanly anyone ( and I do mean anyone) would drop.
So as far as Doug Jones is concerned it would be a case of him either avoiding the 'Hammer' at all costs and winning , or not.
I'd have loved to have seen Johansson against Liston.

Jones by late stoppage or clear decision.
