So i had tyson winning round 9 and 12 up until the knockdown and he finished the stronger after the knockdowns so to me they should of been either 10-9 or 9-9 rounds. Tyson gave deontay a boxing lesson made him miss all night long apart from the knockdown shots, whatever wilder hit tyson with tyson matched him, that fight shoukd of been 120-108 fight but with the knockdowns 116-112. Also AJ vs wilder will end by a k.o for wilder imho
Just so you know, there are no 9-9 rounds unless there is a point taken away. 10 point MUST system.
Only if its a 10 point MUST system
What other scoring is there?

Yeah but it's scored 10 9 first then the point is deducted afterwards.

That's why it's a 10 point must system

If its not a 10 point must system then its 9-9. They never used to always have the 10 point must system but they seem to only use that system now.

Not really sure what's going on here but scoring is simple.

Someone must win 10 points. On extremely rare occassions both might score 10. (Tv pundits give 10-10 all the time but in reality i almost never see them on official cards, it's considered poor judging).

With the case of a knockdown it's almost always 10-8 for the guy who got the KD. allegedly was delusional when he said they rounds coukd have been 10-9 because Fury won the rounds otherwise. Garbage. It takes something exceptional to avoid the point off, the other guy needs to either fet a KD back or very close too it.

In the case of point deductions, the point is removed after the award of the round. Fighter A wins 10-9. If Fighter A gets point off then it becomes 9-9.

10-10 rounds are very common in much of europe (uk included) south america, japan, and aus , they are there all the time, its true though they are less common in the us and for major world title fights

dalcumly wrote: 03 Dec 2018, 04:59 Its not about cliches ( you have to rip the belt from the champ sort of thing). Its a matter of scoring each round by judges on an agreed criteria. Looking at the scorecards, and scoring the fight by using the majority result in each round ( that is if 2 judges score the round 10-9, and the other 9-10, then the majority scoring counts) Fury wins the fight convincingly.
The Mexican judge was simply either incompetent or corrupt. Nobody , that means nobody, scored all those early rounds for Wilder. I don't believe even Wilder looking back on the fight today could agree with that judge.
Phil Edwards was determined not to be biased and as he realised he was scoring a lot of rounds to Fury thought he'd better even things up a bit and awarded the 7th to Wilder when clearly it was a Fury round.
I say again, when employing 3 judges the best thing is to take the 'majority' scoring for each round, and what that does is take out incompetent/corrupt official.
I don't recall any journalist actually investigating the background of the judges being used for these critical contests.
In this country we don't have the problem. Our judges are current top level referees. Elsewhere that's not the case. In Nevada for example all you need to do is show an interest in boxing and become friends with an official and your halfway there.
What has happened for example to that 'clown' who scored the first Alvarez v Golovkin fight? I bet you she's now back judging and all is forgiven.
Majority scoring doesn't work. For this fight it would, but the vast majority of controversial decisions stay the same using that system.

Some fights even go the other way, meaning a correct decision under the current system, becomes a robbery under the majority system (Jason Maloney would have knocked Manny Rodriguez out of the WBSS, for example).

If a judge submits a dodgy card, it needs to not count for anything at all. The current system, and using the dodgy card to determine a majority, are both wrong. The card needs to be excluded completely.

The way to do that, is have 5 judges, then exclude the most extreme score on both ends. The middle 3 make up the official result. That way, if a judge deliberately (or just as a result of incompetence) weights his/her card in favour of a particular fighter, chances are their score won't count towards anything. Take olympic diving or gymnastics etc as an example.

Technically speaking it isn't scored 9-9 if a point is deducted. The scorecards have a column for deductions so the round is scored either 10-9 or 9-10 and a -1 placed in the third column. The -1 isn't applied until the end of the fight and it is deducted from the overall total. You won't see 9-9 on a scorecard.
