Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
Promoter Eddie Hearn has slammed down the reported pay-per-view numbers for the recent heavyweight collision between WBC champion Deontay Wilder and challenger Tyson Fury.
The very vocal promoter slammed the reported pay-per-view figures - stating that Dillian Whyte's recent pay-per-view with Joseph Parker did a high buyrate.
“It's now easier to make the Wilder fight vs other circumstances,” said Hearn to The Independent.
“So if Wilder would have won devastatingly, he would have been a f****** nightmare. Everyone thought he lost so he drew and although his stock has gone up because he is well-known, it's not like he was this phenomenon.
“To do 300,000 buys is terrible, absolutely terrible. 300,000 is absolutely abysmal. Dillian Whyte against Joseph Parker did more than 300,000 buys in England. I mean we're talking about across the US. You can't say it's good. Canelo and Golovkin have just done 1.2 million and they're middleweights.”
But what Hearn neglects are the revenue figures.
Wilder-Fury, at a price range of $74.99, brought in $24.3 million in pay-per-view revenue. While Whyte-Parker, which retailed for a third of that price at £19.95, only brought in $8.1 million in revenue under the same buy number as Wilder-Fury.

Hearn’s comments have just made him sound 100% daft! I thought he was a little clever..

He forgets the UK, although smaller than USA, is much more passionate about boxing than the US.. also the price difference..
Had the fight taken place in the UK and UK prime time, it would have done really well, not that it didn’t.
Also, already worked out, 325k buys in the US, based on the revenue generated, it equivalent to around 1m UK buys.

Anyone care what this toff and his daddy say? Let the real men get on with the real fights and not the panto soap opera rubbish you put on
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
In other words "I don't promote either of these guys therefore I'm gonna sh*t on 'em, and cut 'em down every chance I get"
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible

300k buys is crap though, considering some on here are so convinced that Fury & Wilder are such massive draws despite all evidence to the contrary.

This sums up the facts. Hearn is using figured yo distort the truth. He did not lie he just used tactics that politicians use.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:00

So dollar for dollar 325k buys in America are close to 1 million buys in Britain.

Yeah. The total revenue is the important number and he well knows that.
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
He's a fuckin helmet! I hope Wikder and Fury do the rematch on the same date as AJ! That would be fuckin sweet!
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
Never seen a PPV number i believed anyway.
Why would the TV companies ever release numbers? And if they did, why would they release the real ones if it is damaging to their brand and future negotiations?
I don't think for a second Whyte vs Parker sold 300k in England. That would be 1 buy for every 180 households. I think you would be lucky to find 1 house in 180 that the bill payer could tell you Whyte & Parkers first names, let alone shell out £20 to watch them fight on a Saturday night.

How many buys would Whyte-Parker have done had it been in the UK for £50 a buy? Imagine.tiny_acres wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:20This sums up the facts. Hearn is using figured yo distort the truth. Not at all. Canelo did 300k against Liam Smith. That fight was sold on Canelo’s name alone. That’s poor for a Canelo fight. This was Wilder and Fury’s first time on PPV. Let’s not forget 10 million who watched via illegal streams.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:14 300k buys is crap though, considering some on here are so convinced that Fury & Wilder are such massive draws despite all evidence to the contrary.

18,000 people watched AJ's last fight in America On DAZN for FREE! 320,000 paid $75 to watch Wilder v Fury. He's really out done himself this time

How many boxing fans are actually on this forum? Had the poll been out to a bigger audience, the the majority would have probably picked 300k-500k..Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 16:15We had predictions on here that it would do over 1 million buys!Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 16:13Not at all. Did you pick 1 million.I’m surprised it even did 300k tbh, considering how little they both usually draw.

It did better than I expected, but nowhere near the ridiculous figures that some people were predicting for no good reason, which was the point of my initial post.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 16:38So then the number has to be good on your book.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 16:37Did I fvckRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 16:36

I’m impressed, tbh.
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
Hearn said Klitschko would KO Fury.
Hearn said Wilder would KO Fury.
Hearn said Wilder-Fury wouldn't happen.
Hearn said the $50m offer was genuine, changed his mind a few months later and then Hearn senior said Joshua had turned down $50m.
