Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
Seems fair to assume that illegal streaming's on the up (especially for football, which has increased run-off from other PPV sports because most paid-for deals include the lot), so the only countable that matters to Fastcar is revenue.
I remember the first signs of rot when Tyson-Holyfield went PPV, having seen Tyson-Bruno II on regular £12pm Sky. And there were complaints about that! When Eubank went on his tour not long after fighting on ITV and all that.

Kartina TV is worth it just for combat sports, hockey, futbol, etc. Of course, it is Russian language. Saves on ppvs.

You just watch it online and they take a payment from your card each month until you cancel.
Lack of TV integration's the main downside for most people. If you've a laptop with an HDMI port then it's not too bad.

I will be. I tried it for a fight awhile back and it was a mess. I think that they are getting it sorted out. It is just an app that you can use on any device.
Kartina is my go to. Last two weekends paid for about half of what it costs annual. And my wife watches it pretty constant for Russian movies.

There are loads of providers around, but their closedown rate's high, so you have to be willing to hop around. But with how networking works and the lax laws in so many countries, there's no stopping it for now.
As with Bandcamp and its kind, the best solution is a direct channel between our money and creators, minus a small cut. Music's gone that way because we collectively forced it to by pirating, but things like stadia can't be delivered online, so football-club owners have still got us by the balls. I think F1's doing okay despite being up to its gills in corporate sludge.

Most of the Eubank world tour was on normal Sky.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 00:32 Seems fair to assume that illegal streaming's on the up (especially for football, which has increased run-off from other PPV sports because most paid-for deals include the lot), so the only countable that matters to Fastcar is revenue.

He’s becoming more bitter, he’s a big old Tory, he’s brought us terrible fight nights this year, and some crap PPV cards. He’s now focusing on the States, giving these Yanks what the Brits deserve, even that Italian fight night was more interesting than the Brook/Zerafa show.
The lack of honesty in boxing is remarkable.
Excluding his DAZN and PPV, has he even put one world title fight on this year?

Hearn does indeed slip up when he gets going, as does Warren btw.
Compared to Canelo Vs GGG fights - The PPV numbers for the Tyson Wilder fight are poor. That would be expected I guess.
Canelo/Smith did 300k buys - I think you can figure it from there if Fury/Wilder did well or not. Bearing in mind that outside of Mayweather, Canelo is the biggest PPV star in the US
I would say with all things considered it did okay. However the heavyweights should be generating much more interest. I don't think anyone can deny this.
It tells me that Wilder isn't the big deal in the US some like to make him out to be, and Fury with his antics and candid interviews added more than his fair share to those buys.

Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
If Joshua is the biggest draw in the division and Wilder the biggest fight out there for him then it should have happened by now. The fact it hasn’t speaks volumes.
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
If the fight happens when it becomes unavoidable, everyone will earn well. At the moment AJ will have by far the biggest cut.
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
At the moment AJ is getting the biggest cut of nothing.
The point I was making is that you can't boast about being the biggest or only draw in town then claim it isn't your fault that you failed to make the biggest fight out there. Whyte 2, Miller and then Pulev doesn't represent a great 2019 for him and if Wilder-Fury do have a rematch and the outcome is definitive it will take a lot of shine away from him.
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
It amazes me what the US punters will pay for PPV. I love boxing and buy most of the UK ppv's but at those prices I would be hitting the internet for a stream.

I guess he is willing to take big money for the smaller fights while believing the bigger fights will come.MF DOOM wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 10:43At the moment AJ is getting the biggest cut of nothing.

Hearn is looking to maximise his earnings, banking the bigger fights will come for maximum money.
Obv there is a chance of him missing the boat, but he does have the belts.

Or maybe when there was a good chance of making the big one someone didn't fancy it?Coco wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 10:50I guess he is willing to take big money for the smaller fights while believing the bigger fights will come.MF DOOM wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 10:43At the moment AJ is getting the biggest cut of nothing.

Let's face it. Hearn is only focusing on these numbers to justify a low ball offer to Wilder

Yep and the numbers and money generated was very good, as I've said if they just offer a flat fee to Wilder or Fury they don't really want the fight.

It's not crap though when you take into account that neither guy has fought on PPV in the US before, and it would cost you $75 to buy the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:14 300k buys is crap though, considering some on here are so convinced that Fury & Wilder are such massive draws despite all evidence to the contrary.

I think it's very good and it'll more than double for the rematchNondescript wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 17:16It's not crap though when you take into account that neither guy has fought on PPV in the US before, and it would cost you $75 to buy the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:14 300k buys is crap though, considering some on here are so convinced that Fury & Wilder are such massive draws despite all evidence to the contrary.

They’re also both bigger names after the event, so if they go again it‘ll be bigger
Re: Hearn: Wilder-Fury PPV Number is Terrible, Absolutely Terrible
300k buys at $75.00 is better than 1M buys at $20.00 last I looked.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 17:27I think it's very good and it'll more than double for the rematchNondescript wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 17:16It's not crap though when you take into account that neither guy has fought on PPV in the US before, and it would cost you $75 to buy the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:14 300k buys is crap though, considering some on here are so convinced that Fury & Wilder are such massive draws despite all evidence to the contrary.

Considering the size of the US it's less than 0.1% of their population
