Is Hatton a Bully?...

Post by DG. »

First time he fights somone his own size ( on the night) and he struggles badly!

Hatton bett go back down to 140.

Lucky for Hatton he did not nfight a puncher. Collazo almost knocked him out!

Tsyzu and Maussa?

KT old and inactive......................

Maussa mjust plain ordinary..........

Hatton better wise up. He won't make the splash the way he thinks.

Hatton seemed lost for long spells in this contest.

He better no hopw that HBO oblige Bob Arum and make a fight with Margarito!

DLH would knock Hatton out!!

I bet DLH wants Hatton!

i couldn't get behind me sofa cos me drumkit is there.

i thought hatton was a goner in that 12th rd though.

he's no bully, just struggles with fast and awkward pudenda like collazo was. that was the first close-ish fight of hatton's career.

sometimes we forget how good hatton is. :TU:

Yeah Hatton is nothing more than a bully. He likes to bully opponents and enjoyed facing lightweights and no hopers for years.

He fought an old Tszyu and beat him. Then he fought Maussa THE SAME WAY and had a hard time. Then he fought Collazo THE SAME WAY and LOST the damn fight.

Hatton is one dimensional but blind nutslurpers on this site will hound me for that comment.

Witter would obliterate him. Hatton can't handle a slick style that gives him angles. It's no coinsidence that he never fought Judah/Corley/Witter/Mayweather/Mitchell. He knows it himself though.

Judah, Margarito and Mayweather would all beat Hatton, and with plenty to spare too... Ricky showed what I've always saud about him... he is a good class 140 fighter who has boosted his rep with a long string of wins against aged and smaller opposition... finally he's put in against a mediocre world class fighter his own size and he almost koed!....

Now we see why ricky has always ducked a fight with Witter...

Collazo is mediocre though... if Hatton has trouble against him imagine what Mayweather would do to him!...

Yes, but Junior Witter is no Welterweight, Junior Witter doesn't have the stamina of Collazo.

Collazo would beat Witter handily.

I'd still put my money on Witter beating Hatton, though I think Witter is on the slide and not the boxer he was a few years ago...

I have only seen highlights on youtube. My very first thought was how much bigger Collazo looked at the weight than Hatton. My last thought was that Hatton should stay at 140.

What about those who watched it on TV. Did Collazo look a a fair bit bigger (naturally) at 147lbs than Hatton?

Much bigger - Hatton is no Welterweight.

He was almost stopped!

Your first and last post on this thread is contradictory DG.

First you say its the first time he has fought someone his own size.

Then you say Collazo was "much bigger" and Hatton is no Welterweight.

Which one is it?

Hatton's style is to bully his opponents. His advantages are strength, work-rate and durability. On the basis of last night's performance fighting at welterweight means Hatton's strength is not as effective and so fights are gonna require a bit more skill and savvy from Hatton to ensure victory.

Hatton's style of walking-through his opponent's punches means that in the higher division, the chances of Hatton being stopped or smashed-up are greatly increased - as round 12 showed. At welter Hatton's durability is going to be pushed to the limit by the bigger men, much more so than it would be at light-welter.

Ive heard Hatton say that he needs to grow into Welter, but unless he can get a fight with Mayweather, I believe its in Hatton's interests to return to light-welter.

Well he was a Welterweight as an amatuer.

I think Hatton shouldn't be that reckless though and he kind of does lack skill.

Lucky for Hatton, Mayweather ain't that big and strong.

Hatton fights like he's punching the body bag , there believing there own publicity about his skill, His strenght and fitness allowed him to beat up all the featherweights and lightweights he fought. His youth and fitness along with a ref who allowed him to get away with murder got him a win against zoo

If he carries on at welter he loses the lot , his strengh will go his fitness won't carry him and his skils he has'nt bothered to develop cos he's to busy punching a body bag
