David Lemieux vs. Tureano Johnson - December 15, 2018 *CANCELLED*

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

According to a report by TVA Sports, former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux will back in action on December 15th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, as part of the undercard to the Canelo Alvarez vs. Rocky Fielding card.

The outlet reports that Lemieux (40-4, 34 KOs) will be facing Tureano Johnson (20-2, 14 KO) .

Also on the card, junior welterweight contender Yves Ulysse Jr. is slated to see action.

Johnson has been out of the ring since August of 2017, when he was knocked out in a final eliminator with Sergiy Derevyanchenk - which snapped a six fight winning streak for Johnson.

Lemmy making himself comfortable on the second tier.
He's fun to watch still. I don't mind him stepping back, he's been beaten to a pulp by the best

Yeah, Johnson looked pretty bad in that fight IIRC.

Scratch that. I don't even remember that fight too well.

Johnson is a live dog against the incredibly overrated Canadian.

tbh seems like the type of c+/b- level guys lems beaten consistently for years. i recall in perhaps johnsosn best effort he was beating stevens before getting stopped. i think he is probably too 'right there' for lem and without the same type of power

spike vs johnson would be good. although this too i expect to be fun while it lasts. ive realzied that lem isnt really a serious mw contender, but defo if you look at him as a 2nd rate /lower top 10ish fighter there for fun when matched more around his level hes good value

Lemieux was hospitalized due to dehydration and required intravenous fluids forcing organizers to cancel the fight.

It's getting quite concerning at annoying at the amount of fights being cancelled so close to fight night...

Whether it's weight, drain, visa issues, whatever it might be.. It's bullshiit.. You look forward to a fight, then you see a boxer who has to strip naked to make weight etc. :witzend:

It was supposed to be likely.. But Lemieux sometimes looks as though he makes 160 easy and now this.. He hasn't even made weight and he's in hospital. TBH, I think he's too small for SMW.. He hasn't got a big physique.

I don't think Lemieux ever made weight easily. Guy always rehydrates to insane weights.

lem is a strange case...at times his body looks a bit soft and hes not that tall and doest really look big at the weight imo, but at the same time his face is drained as eff and he comes in the next day at around 20 pounds heavier
