ROACH

Post by coneye »

I'm suprise no one has commented on the Freddie Roach interview , where he gets stuck into Ben Davidson , poor form from the back stabbing snidey coont , He can smell heavyweight dollars and wants a peice of it , Could'nt actually think of a worst trainer then him to train Fury for a Wilder fight , follow his instructions and Tyson would get ko'd inside 3 ,

Says he's an offensive trainer , problem is as was shown in Horn -Paccy fight when his boxer is under attack his offensive methods only go to peices , , proving to be a very bitter snidey old git is Roach , publicly saying , i'm glad to be with Tyson and assist Ben , i don't pinch fighters , now publicly saying Ben was wrong , and he has spoken to Tyson , like i said he can smell Heavy weight dollars , , and wants some , seen one interview before the fight where he was alluding to being responsible for Tysons good condition , ,, If i was Ben i'd tell Tyson i don't want him anywhere near our next camp

Should not have gone public, but yanno, the guy has a fck load of training experience at the high end and he saw things we didn't, was told thing we weren't, was part of the crew and had complete access and so maybe all his points are bang on. But yep, should not have gone public (although even there, if Ben etc blanked him and did not want to talk about any issues, maybe he felt he needed to)

Always more than one side of a story huh.

i know he said he wanted fury more aggressive , that itself is fine, you dont have to kiss a guy and be lovey just because you shared a fighters corner

I see it from a different angle.

Roach is just in a place now where he can speak his mind without having to worry about his next pay day.

I don't think he's trying to pinch Fury at all.

maybe i read a different interview but roach didntseem nearly as terribly bad and meanie as op makes out, its fair play to disagree on an approach someone wanted

a lot of what he said seemed fine and he acknowledged that davison had been a big part in inspiring tyson, but that he thought the approach id not put things beyond doubt as much as they couldve been

He sounded to me as if he was distancing himself from Fury not having a decisive victory. Just MHO.

to me it sounded like he was just being honest about what he thought, and loads of uninvolved ppl who watched agreed with him that a bit more aggresion couldve helped, maybe i read a different interview but what he said seemed reasonable

He had another interview saying Ben nearly ran into the ring after the last KD. They had to calm him down.

btw roach basically just said he had only a few words after with tysons team, hardly made him come across as chasing a rematch gig for cash, tbh he didnt come across as too eager or enthused

What would Roach teach him anyway?
Davidson dis his job- get Tyson fit and motivated, Tyson did the rest. Job done.
Roach has only had success with guys who were already good, the guys he has brought up from nothing all fail at the top level, usually miserably.

I think Fury needs to put in a better offensive next time (though still fighting a defensive fight, just countering and following up a bit more), but he noticably gassed in the later rounds IMO, so even that in that fight wouldn have been dumb as it would have just made he more tired.

There's what's ideal for a hypothetical superfighter tactically, and then there's the strategy you need to employ for the fighter you have.

What do you think? I gave Davison some credit because he took a lot of stick after BJS against Akakov and rightly so but I thought he deserved his props here. This was one of the hardest jobs in the sport he took on even for a seasoned trainer but he took it on and came across really well. Well done to him....

You're correct though, maybe Roach saw some things we all didn't? It was one of they fights! I'm still picking holes just now!

Thing is you can pick holes in the performance from both Wilder , and Fury , all night long , there not superheroes , but to go public stating Ben was crying wanting to get to Tyson and they had to hold him back is wrong , he also carried on that Ben did'nt send him out more aggressive , like he wanted him too ,, Yeh well aggresion would of got Tyson Ko'ed , smart boxing is what got him a draw and a win in most peoples eyes , seems to be a common denominator with Roach falling out with most , his ego

I saw that,Eddie has a bad habit of doing that and will end in a disqualification one day.

Roach was definitely wrong here. Davison was giving Fury perfect instructions, that was Tyson, who made errors for a couple of times. Without those errors everytrhing should have been fine. So Roach would have been giving absolutely unnecessary instructions, if he was a head coach, luckily he wasn't.

Yeh, even touching Bellew when he was knocked down isn't allowed..

The worst was when Froch beat Bute.. Clearly the fight wasn't stopped, Froch celebrated like he won, so kinda his fault.. Referee gave Bute a standing count as the ropes were clearly holding him up.. Hearn jumps the ring as if he won the lottery, eventually cleared the ring. I think even the ref got confused and then Butes corner came in to the ring saying just stop the bloody fight..

After reading it, not sure why he’s getting grief for what he’s said. He has a point. Fury is always a little too cautious

Davison did a good job.
Turning Fury, and his cousin toó, into Marciano doesn't bode well for their careers

I watched an interview with Hatton the other day, he also criticised the tactics slightly, said he would have wanted Fury to use his weight more and lean on Wilder.

Roach shouldn't have taken cornerwork with Fury - he's above that and doesn't need the money. Fury isn't a guy Roach can shape either. He's an offensive coach & Fury is a stinkout merchant. He shoukd hire Adam Booth.

the interesting thing i saw in the fight...in the earlier rounds..when wilder threw the right, fury was ducking and moving to his right. it took wilder 2/3 of the fight duration to realise this. if you see the knock down, wilder threatens to deliver, fury goes down and right again, wilder follows him with the punch and shouts 'bingo'

next time.......wilder has to sus things out quicker or fury needs to vary his defence from the right bomb.
