hatton the year ahead......

first of all i have not seen the fight last night but by going on whats been said on this site (both uk and usa sections) 2/3 think hatton won a close fight.

i will reserve my judgement till i see the fight next week. My main point is this.....hatton has said that he thinks collazo deserves a rematch which if the fight was close then hatton shoulod fight him again. I have no doubt hatton being the fighting man he is will give collazo the rematch but i also feel that it should be in america as again this will show if hatton beats collazo better than the first time or collazo beats hatton.

first and foremost i think now hatton has a mandatory againt urkal which should be in the uk and should be around late august.

this then leaves a rematch with collazo for november time or early december therefore hatton wont be fighting anyone else till 2007.

Hatton, after a great win over Tszyu, in danger, of spending his optimum years, fighting nobodies.

Collazo, sure he was underrated by some, but who was he?

Same with Urkal.

They would be better off fighting Witter in England than these guys

Seems there are too many Cooks involved with Hattons career.

I for one do not want to see a rematch, what is the point.

He should fight the Baldomir vs Gatti winner for the linear title.

If Ricky has his way, his next fight would be against Castillo-Corrales winner. I cannot see this happening as I feel Castillo will win on June 3, then he'll fight Cotto in the autum.

I would like to see Hatton-Witter @ 140lbs. I'd be hoping Hatton destroys Witter. It probably won't happen as I think Ricky will go after bigger fights against bigger names.

Who knows who is next, maybe there will be a rematch with Collazo?

What was the fighters' weights on the night?

Has anyone's opinion changed in respect of Hatton fighting Cotto, Mayweather, Castillo etc, after witnessing Hatton-Collazo?

Quite honestly I was worried for Ricky just as a fan but so were his Mum and Dad and Matt also - Billy Graham didnt look confident and as for Ricky he had the look of desperation in his eyes - The Sky team seemed to think Callazo had held on to the title and with three American judges it didnt look good for Ricky - I think one point in it as one judge saw the fight was about right - The other two had a three point difference which I dont understand - It was for me a very close fight - My wife left the room as we awaited the result saying Ricky has lost! - I shouted to her Rickys got it and she came back - Neither of us could believe the judges scorecards, well two of them anyway - Ricky is lucky to be the champion and be 41 and 0 definately not the usual Hatton performance that we have seen in the past - Good start with Ricky having Colazo on the deck in the first 12 seconds - Ricky through everything at him but nothing seemed to really hurt Collazo - Rickys defense was poor and he took a lot punches that he shouldnt have - Had Collazo been a heavier puncher Ricky would have gone down without a doubt - At one point Ricky looked dazed thankfully near the end of the round which gave him time to recover - Rematch would be suicide! Ricky is going to find it tough at welterweight - He dominated at 140 but at 147 they can take his heavy body punches much better - They said Ricky wasnt concerned about Colazzo being a southpaw but the awkward style was frustrating Ricky and he was getting caught over and over again - Colazzo was a bad choice that Ricky himself made - The next opponent has to be chosen with a lot more caution or the dream could end for Hatton and his team - Mayweather at any time to me seems a bridge too far but Cotto or Gatti could be choices - Witter would be great, but no big money means no fight so they will probably never get it on - Lot to think about for Hatton and his team
