I've got some sad news...

Post by Fist of Legend »

its been a fun season so far but it might be at an end sadly.....the hard disc drive on my computer has unexpectedly failed and made it pretty much useless....not sure how we continue from here, maybe someone else can get the software and take over as commish....it might be a while before I can get it fixed :(

That is rather sad.

But, I'm sure someone can step up to the plate. If not, it's been a good run. :TU: Thanks for letting us know.

BTW.... TITLE BOUT 2.... Made in 2017.... I only thought there was the 2013 version.... Might just be a board game version though idk.

Man, that sucks! Is there any way to get your computer back up? If not, not sure of what options we have left for this season. We could vote on possible HOF entrants, but might be tougher than usual due to the shortened season and lack of a few managers being here.

As far as a new season, I wonder if anybody else has the software? I could probably pick it up at some point after the holidays, I can't see it being too much. Going to be tough to run the fights and keep up with the scheduling/rule keeping though.

Hopefully all is not lost, and we can find a way to continue the season, but more importantly my sympathies to F.O.L about his computer crashing. I know that's gonna be a pain in the ass money wise even if you can get it fixed.

once I'm able to get a new computer or fix the old one I should be able to reinstall the game....I'm on my girlfriends laptop now and tried installing it on here but it didn't work...it uses linux instead of windows and I guess the titlebout software isn't compatible with it.

shitty timing with it being so close to the holidays, I don't have the money to spend on new hardware....hoping for some of that Christmas magic to come my way....maybe I can find a cheap copy of Windows to install on my gf's comp(hopefully she's ok with it)

Thiis is just a setback....BoxRecSim will not die :box:

I hope, you'll handle this and save my first season here from ending like that. :box:

If nothing else, don't let this discourage you. You've been a great newcomer Doc.

This happened once before in the past....so their is precedent for it.

I have the software, and after the first of the year if this has not been solved, I will volunteer once again to see to it the season has a finale.

I would not manage my fighters, and will not participate as a competitor. The history would be lost, but we could likely get to the end of a 30 week run with a clear outcome.

That's one option on the buffet table to consider.

I won't let this happen. Anyway it was a fun ride. Thanks for the kind words, in any case it was a pleasure to share this managing spot of The Sim Universe with all the participants. Yet hopefully these are the words before some time off, but not before the end.

I do not shenanagize when it comes to the important things in life.

E.G.:

Any matter regarding beer,, refereeing or participating in sporting events, wildly imaginative heterosexual activity, music, and health matters, especially head injury.

Everthing else in life is fair game for lampooning.

Obviously the situation is not ideal, It is an extremely unfortunate turn of events...
However, that is not to say that it is not damaged beyond repair...
As BoxBuzz said:

Incidentally enough, it happened in our Last HW season too...
Where Buzz took over the running of the fights and I did the admin work.

What I am saying is -
We could continue the season, with all fighters starting with their default records in the TitleBout game...

This would mean that those fighters who are doing well, will go back to the start.
And those fighters whop are doing not-so-well, will also go back to the start.
So on the scale of things, maybe there is a balance there with that.
:maybe:

The only downside is that the accumulated pts totals would also go back to zero for everyone, but I guess that cannot be helped.

And with every fighter's record going back to the clean slate, it then becomes even more important for Managers to update their fighters' records...

Anyway, I think that I will create a thread for the BRS public to decide our next step forward.
