What happened to Junlong Zhang?
What happened to Junlong Zhang, 19-0, 19 ko's, #1 heavy in China? He hasn't fought since 12/17.

A lot of mystery with him. I doubt anyone will know. I just looked him up on Asian Boxing, and no news other than his last victory.
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
Doesn't really say anything we don't already know. I'm more wondering who his next opponent will be. Wondering if he's running out of guys to take dives or something.

Kyptaro still hasn't had his next opponent announced, so hopefully that's in the works, Kyptaro vs Junlong!
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
That's definitely a fight that would interest me. There's a few in the Asia Pacific region that I would want to see go up against each other in any sort of matchup. The likes of Kyotaro, Junlong, Zhilei, Parker, Browne, Fa.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑27 Aug 2018, 06:20 Kyptaro still hasn't had his next opponent announced, so hopefully that's in the works, Kyptaro vs Junlong!

It's easier to change misspelled lettering on boxing trunks than a tattoo that says "look at me I am a slut" in Chinese characters.

:( Kyotaro's opponent for September 25th was revealed today, some Thai chap apparently http://www.asianboxing.info/asian-news/ ... challengerjoshj909 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2018, 12:55That's definitely a fight that would interest me. Some good fights out there in the region for guys like Zhang and Zhilei as you mentioned and yet they still end up fighting crap like this :(

Summed up quite well in the article:Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑28 Aug 2018, 04:14 :( Kyotaro's opponent for September 25th was revealed today, some Thai chap apparently http://www.asianboxing.info/asian-news/ ... challenger

Not sure why he won't step up. The end of his kickboxing record (which is very short for kickboxing) is a who's who of world class fighters yet he won't even take a regional challenge in nearly as many boxing matches. On one hand it's nice to see Kyotaro finally turn away from over-matched challengers from the South Pacific, with his last few opponents being very poor challengers from the area. But on the other hand a 23 year old blown up Super Middleweight from Thailand really isn't acceptable, at least not in a 12 round title fight. With fighters like Zhang Junlong (19-0, 19) [张君龙] and Zhang Zhilei (19-0, 15) [张志磊] both in the regional mix Kyotaro does have some interesting regional rivals, but Suthat not one of them, and this is, instead, a bit of a waste of time for the talented, but incredibly frustrating Japanese Heavyweight who should be demanding much stiffer competition.

Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
These asian guys fight bums only, they will never step up. I even doubt if they want to step up because they know that they cant beat any decent fighter
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
Hopefully the WBO call for a mandatory defence for Fujimoto's WBO Asia Pacific belt at some point as Junior Fa and Zhilei Zhang are ranked 1 and 2. Zhilei is also ranked number 1 for Fujimoto's OPBF belt. This would be wishful thinking though.
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
Boxrec has him listed as having a fight lined up in March in Australia. Could finally see some good footage of him after that.

The heavyweight raymi.
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
pretty much, defo a fraud, the very little footage ive seen the opponents were so obviously diving and im not sure all of his fights on his record actually happen. usually in these days when all you can find is a tiny 10 second clip or two theres something up.
the other zhang at least has an extensively documented amateur background and is widely available as a pro. this one is a fake
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
I've tried my best and can't find out who it is yet.
A lot of Aussie HW guys are fighting in March, just not on the date listed on boxrec. I thought it might be Willis Mehan ( son of Kali) but alas no.
You can bet it will be crap though, that is the only certainty.
Re: What happened to Junlong Zhang?
Yeah i heard a while back he had a new Aussie promoter but i can't find a trace of that. That could at least hint us towards who it might be. I don't have high hopes but someone like Leapai or De Mori would be ok for a first proper glimpse at him, but i imagine it will be someone a lot worse.KiwiRider wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 17:12 I've tried my best and can't find out who it is yet.

Zhang has been wanting to fight Kyotaro for 2 years... But neither really want it more than to just talk about it
