Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
Anthony Joshua sat ringside Saturday night for Canelo Alvarez’s debut at a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
The British superstar so enjoyed his Garden and New York experiences that he has embraced the idea of making his American debut there in the spring. Multiple sources have informed BS.com that Joshua is more than willing to fight trash-talking, Brooklyn-based heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden this spring.
World Boxing News was the first to report Monday that Joshua is seriously contemplating boxing Miller in his next fight in the United States. That report stated a Joshua-Miller match could take place at Madison Square Garden or Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but BS.com has learned Joshua wants to fight at The Garden after his experience there Saturday night.
A capacity crowd of 20,112 attended a card headlined by Alvarez’s third-round knockout of England’s Rocky Fielding in a fight for Fielding’s WBA world super middleweight title.
A Joshua-Miller match could take place some time in June at Madison Square Garden, sources have confirmed, so that Joshua’s next fight won’t occur during the same month DAZN will stream Alvarez’s next fight. Alvarez is expected to return to the ring May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but Alvarez and promoter Oscar De La Hoya haven’t settled on an opponent or whether that fight will be contested at middleweight or super middleweight.
His April 13 appearance at Wembley reportedly was part of a two-fight deal for Joshua to fight there. British rival Dillian Whyte (24-1, 17 KOs) has been considered the front-runner to face Joshua on April 13 because a heavyweight title unification fight against WBC champ Deontay Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs) isn’t expected to take place next.
Whyte would first have to defeat Dereck Chisora (29-8, 21 KOs) in their rematch Saturday night at O2 Arena in London. A fight against Whyte would not only do big business in the UK, it’d also satisfy Joshua’s mandatory obligation with the WBO.
Sources have confirmed, though, that Hearn is seriously considering staging an Amir Khan-Kell Brook bout April 13 at Wembley Stadium instead of Joshua’s next fight.
Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) has not yet agreed to box Brook (38-2, 26 KOs). If Hearn’s increased offer is enough to entice Khan to take that huge domestic showdown over a shot at WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, it likely would be staged at Wembley Stadium on April 13.
Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. has offered Khan a $5 million guarantee to challenge Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs), perhaps as soon as March 23 at Madison Square Garden, in what would be an ESPN Pay-Per-View main event. Khan could make considerably more than that by battling Brook, even if a deal for a Crawford fight afforded Khan the option of keeping all of the Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view money that ordinarily would be split among both boxers.

Sounds alright to me. If Wilder and Fury are gonna be busy with each other in the meantime Miller is about as good a contender as is out there at the moment. Luis Ortiz is probably the 4th best guy in the division, but Miller is certainly among the Top 10 so I got no complaints about it.

You’re okay with that.. but what about the Khan-Brook part? I do think it still sells out a stadium. But the doesn’t have a stadium feel to it anymore.gilgamesh wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 17:39 Sounds alright to me. Im cool with that too.
Miller being KO'ed in MSG is quite fitting.
Khan and Brook I don't have much hope for really. Being made I mean. If Eddie can do it, good on him, but I ain't going to pay for it. Not now, it's past sell by date, which was about 2 years ago.

Joshua said he has no interest in fighting Fury, he turned down $50m to fight Wilder, but he'll fight Miller.
Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
Khan vs Brook is fine by me. Neither guy is the top guy in the division at this point or even close to it, but they still got their grudge match, and it's still a fight people wanna see so I'm cool with it.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 17:55You’re okay with that.. but what about the Khan-Brook part? I personally don't get fussed about ticket sales anyhow, i'll not go to a televised show again, I went to Frampton/Quigg and I much prefer watching it on TV, if Brook/Khan only sells 30,000 I personally will have the exact same experience, these stadium, arena gigs are dead right up until the main event
Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
Might be the first fight I root for AJ!

Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
wilder himself said on joe rogan last week that aj wants to fight him next and that ajs team have been reaching out to make it
Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
we already saw fury vs wilder, id rather see an explosive punchers battle we havent got to see yet, you saying no one wants it next is bizarre btw

Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
ya for some reason youve been saying no one would want aj vs wilder more than a rematch first

I went to Froch Groves II. Next day a lot of people said to me, “oh that must’ve been great - what a show - Grives coming in on an open-topped London Bus”
“DID HE?!” I was dumbfounded - literally had no idea. It looked grea on the replay though !
Calzaghe v Nanfredo jr was like watching two ants fighting without a magnifying glass.
Stadiums are just too big - unless it’s got that Dallas Cowboys size screen.
Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
Miller is a great talker actually. He cracked me up Ringside of the Fielding fight with some if stuff. "Can't wait to come to England for fish and chips and tea"
I think he has a shot at AJ, depending on his chin. He's an absolute behemoth of a man. If AJ cracks him and he keeps pressing forward, that's the kind of opponent that will beat AJ.

I would love to see a huge fight in Cowboys stadium. I hate the Cowboys but their stadium is the nicest in the worldskanksta wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 23:08Agree.handsofstone wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 18:49 I personally don't get fussed about ticket sales anyhow, i'll not go to a televised show again, I went to Frampton/Quigg and I much prefer watching it on TV, if Brook/Khan only sells 30,000 I personally will have the exact same experience, these stadium, arena gigs are dead right up until the main event

What is the appetite for Joshua Miller though? Whyte if he beats Chisroa, will no doubt feel hard done by if he doesn't get the fight. Who can Eddie offer him to keep him quiet?
Wilder appers to want the Fury rematch and Hearn seems concerned that AJ has lost some credibility in the states, hence the damage limitation by AJ going on that show with Kellerman.
AJ was in the states a few days after the Wilder Fury fight but couldnt make it LA for that but turns up in NYC to watch Canelo? The arrogance of Hearn and AJ could be their undoing. Booking Wembley and basically saying you fight me here or theres no fight and then ditching that to fight Miller in NYC just seems ridiculous. AJ will take a hit on the UK PPV's if they go to America, because of the timings and the opponent. Plus the revenue generated on DAZN won't likely be anything significant.
I also can't stand all the tweets from the likes of Buffer, matchroom staff and Sky. Its pathetic how they try to downplay Fury and Wilder. Hearn said it wasn't a great fight yet he refers to Whyte Chisora 1 as the best heavyweight fight he's seen live (maybe excluding AJ v WK). It's just laughable.
The little digs Hearn makes at FW all the time, things like they had to go on the 22nd and then saying they may lose"20,000" buys to the 'trade fight' of warrington v Frampton. Its so cringe. Yet he's always banging on about "I just want everyone to do well".
Let's hope the Haymon ITV deal throws a spanner in the works and they manage to put on well matched competitive fights that generate interest and income.

Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
I don't really have any preference when it comes to AJ vs Whyte or Miller. Can't imagine Whyte being pleased with Hearn though if they do change plans and go to NYC. This rematch has been sold on the premise of the winner getting AJ. The closer we've got it's a case of Whyte would get AJ, if Chisora wins then Miller gets the shot. Now maybe Miller fights Joshua regardless of who wins on Saturday night?
To be fair to Whyte, since getting a world ranking he's continued to take on competitive fights on paper. Helenius, Browne, Parker and Chisora 2. Not a murderers row by any means, but tougher than a lot of fighters would take when they've got a world title shot coming at some point.
Khan vs Brook seems a bit underwhelming for Wembley in what will be 2019. Just pack out the arena in Manchester and put on a solid undercard would be my preference. In an ideal world they'd do Khan vs Brook in Manchester (which allows them to run later than Wembley) and then go through to AJ vs Miller in NY on the same night. I'd be shocked if Eddie/Sky pass up the chance to do 2 separate PPV's though.

While Whyte has earned the shot, assuming he gets past Chisora, he already tried and failed. I'd rather see AJ v. Miller and see if Miller is for real, or just another big mouth. Khan Brook at Wembley sounds implausible.ElJefe wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 19:40 I don't really have any preference when it comes to AJ vs Whyte or Miller. Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
Fair point re: Miller being a new opponent. Not sure I like the precedent of wins over Adamaek and Dinu earning a shot at Joshua though. For all the stick he's had recently, on the whole there's been merit to his defences. Breazeale was a quick turnaround from Martin so kept him active. Molina was a former Wilder opponent so acted as a yard stick. Klitschko was a monstrous step up. Takam was a late replacement from the mandatory Pulev fight. Parker was a unification. Povetkin was another mandatory and a long time top 4/5 HW in the world. Miller feels a bit like he's being shoe horned in because he's a loud mouth Yank to introduce AJ to the stateside audience.oogiebe wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 19:43While Whyte has earned the shot, assuming he gets past Chisora, he already tried and failed. Re: Joshua-Miller At MSG Could Bring Khan-Brook To Wembley 4/13
I get your point. Not an AJ fan, but I'd like to see AJ flatten the Big Baby. Breazeale holds no favor with me and I don't believe he's earned the WBC mandatory with Wilder. It's really only the three big boys I'd like to see fight, so let AJ have Miller; Fury/Wilder rematch and the winners to settle the question of who's the best HW today. Let the rest knock each other off until we get to 2020 and see some of the young pups reside in the mid tier of the top 10 (Hrgovic; Dubois; Ajagba; Joyce, etc.)ElJefe wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 19:58Fair point re: Miller being a new opponent.
