Josh Warrington vs. Carl Frampton Lands on ESPN+ on December 22, 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

In an early Christmas present for United States boxing fans, the Warrington vs. Frampton card will stream live and exclusively beginning at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN +

And, in a special attraction, top featherweight prospect Michael “Mick” Conlan will make his final ring appearance of 2018.

"I am truly honored that ESPN+ will be showing my fight," Warrington said. "I announced myself onto the world stage by winning the world title, and now I want to show the American audience who Josh Warrington is by beating Carl Frampton. The long-term aim is to fight in the United States, so this is preparing the audience! The fans are going to witness something special on Dec. 22."

“It is fantastic news that my bid to become a world champion again will be screened live on such a heavily subscribed US platform as ESPN+,”[/i[ Frampton said. “It is always a thrill to know that your fights are being showcased to an American audience, and I fully believe they will see something special from me on Dec. 22 when I become a two-time world champion at featherweight. Then, I will look to unify against one of the top American world titleholders in 2019.”

“I am really excited to be fighting on the same card as my stablemate and friend, Carl Frampton,” Conlan said. “I am looking to step up in class and reach 10-0 as a pro by Christmas. The Conlan Revolution rolls into Manchester!”

Good news for US fans. Now you can choose between Whyte vs. (Chisora) on DAZN or this on ESPN+.. and then enjoy Wilder vs. Fury later.

Has Billy Joe ignored the WBO's six suspension then? So if he's fighting on the 22nd December, then this means that he's competing less than six months after the date of his failed test.

I'm sure he failed the test sometime around September/October, instead of prior to the 22nd June, 2018? :-?

I understand that WADA, UKAD and the BBBofC refuse to recognise the decisions made by the MSAC & the WBO, so he is free to fight again, since he’s never lost his license, but wouldn’t this automatically render the likelihood of him challenging for his old world title as being categorically impossible, as he’ll never be rated by the WBO ever again? :KO:

Maybe he's just banned from fighting in WBO sanctioned fights? Like an eliminator or something.

It was Boston who refused him a license and the WBO that banned him..

No other body's banned him I take it.

The Briton was refused a licence by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission (MSAC) in August due to an adverse Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test.

He is still licensed to box in the UK.

Things got tense between them at the presser.

Technically-speaking, Billy Joe Saunders will be competing as a CRUISERWEIGHT this weekend (on the Frampton-Warrington undercard), because he weighed in at 178.5lbs against replacement opponent Charles Adamu who came in at 173.2lbs! :o
