ITV Boxing - 13/05/06 (Spoiler)

Decided not to order the Hatton fight so watching the ITV bill now. Mitchell won in two rounds but his opponent was 38 and coming to the end, no point in this fight to be honest he should move to British level. Same with Tony Doherty, wasting time, treading water.

Can't be arsed to review the rest of the card

Maybe someone can help me out.

Danny Hunt got into a tear-up with the "rough house" Monir Guebbas. Guebbas found a honey punch with the uppercut and also cut Hunt badly over both eyes. This forced Hunt to go for broke and he almost decked Guebbas (who had never been stopped before). The ref got the cuts cleaned up a few times, but unfortunately they were too bad and he stopped the fight.

On a side note, if Hatton gets cut like that tonight do you think it will go straight to the doctor (like them seem to do in the US), or do you think the ref give Ricky's corner a round or two to sort it out like what normally happens in the UK

Yep, he suffered a perforated ear-drum in his last sparring session leading up to the show.

Indeed, thr Hunt fight was a good tear-up, always a shame when a boxer loses by cuts stoppage.

You do tend to find in the US that ref's aren't always keen to let boxers go on if it's a bad cut, but I have seen it happen. Also, Hatton's team should have/will have had a word with the ref about his tendancy to cut and hopefully cut him some slack if it can wait till the break.

Jim Rawling and Duke McKenzie haven't got a fornicating clue when it comes to commentating and McGuigan just gets on my nerves these days...

The commentary was laughable! I swear, whenever Mitchell fights the commentators seem to mention every 30 seconds how he's "a really big puncher". Take note guys, repeating this over and over again isn't going to suddenly make it come true. He's just not. Accept it and STFU. Also made some false statements regarding his opponents record failing to mention his horrible recent form. Why is he still fighting these guys? Come on now, this is getting ridiculus. I can honestly say ive never seen worse opposition all the way through for a prospect.

I think the problem which has held back Mitchell is that he normally boxes too wild looking for the KO, so he can't be trusted against any fighters with any kind of power. Despite the opponent he showed a bit of maturity, so he might get stepped up soon...

PPV for Hatton. Im not gonna get down on my knee's and thank Sky for supplying more boxing with which I have to pay for on top of my monthly subscription. Is everyone that desperate for boxing that they will watch any old shite thats put on?? Give us a decent match. How bout throwing Mitchell in with that guy Murray fought, now thats a real test.

I'm not complaining so much on the commentary and analysis but the quality of Mitchell and Doherty's opponents it frustrating, when will they be stepped up? Hunt-Guebbas was a war! Thoroughly enjoyed that fight.

Doherty fights Taz Jones again in Cardiff on July 8 (many felt Jones was robbed the first time they met).
Mitchell, still only 21, is Frankie's favourite. Ultra-caution with him.

Monir Guebbas is a tough man, he just won't give up in a fight, Gave Mitchell and Murray good workouts as well, Wouldn't mind seeing him as an opponent for Khan

I was impressed with Mitchell in that he took his time and picked his shots alot better than his last fight. IMO he'd beat either Corcoran or Johanneson for the British title, and then could fight for the European when Arthur vacates.

Hunt/Guebbas was a great fight (while it lasted) and I'd love to see a rematch. Tony Doherty looked decent although there's no reason for him to be fighting such poor opposition.

Carl Johannesen would pulverise Mitchell. Mitchell's people wouldn't dare make that fight. Seriously, Mitchell is way to open defensively to fight Johannesen.

It seems like Mitchell wants to bypass the domestic scene. How on earth he's going to do that is anybody's guess:
