What's the most important belt?
What's the most important belt?
Discuss
To me its WBC
Although the ring belt means a lot in the boxing world since the owner is recognized not as 1 out of 4 champions, but THE champion, the 1 best boxer in his division. Also the ring mag older than wbc, ibf etc.

Re: What's the most important belt?
None of 'em. The Champion makes the title, the title doesn't make the Champion. WHO you beat is more important than which belt you have.

Re: What's the most important belt?
Wbc seems to be the most coveted. The magazine belt is of zero importance.
Re: What's the most important belt?
If ibo and wbc have both a b level champion and you got to choose who you want to face and conquer the belt, dont tell me you would decide yourself for the ibo champ

Re: What's the most important belt?
You'd fight the one with the biggest paycheck.
Re: What's the most important belt?
If they both have a B Level Champion then it's not the most important belt in that particular weight class at that moment now is it?

Hahaha...you are great. You realy show time after time how bad your boxing knowleadge isOnetimeonly wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 14:47 Wbc seems to be the most coveted. The magazine belt is of zero importance.
Re: What's the most important belt?
wbc seems more like an americas thing, wba seems bigger in europe
i think between the major abcs it really matters very little. pretty much no time does a champ get elevated above other major champs simply because of the belt brand he has. whichever one takes the smallest sanctioning fee/gives the champ the biggest split lol
lol frosty

Says the guy who's asking if a new Champion who hasn't even fought the best of his own time is the best of all time?Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 14:52Hahaha...you are great. Re: What's the most important belt?
I guess my boxing knowledge is just as limited. WBC seems to be most coveted since Larry Holmes at least.Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 14:52Hahaha...you are great. Than lets say all 4 mayor belt owners are all b level.
Wouldnt you prefer wbc or ibf over wbo ibo
I mean $€£ over belts i get that. But wbc and ibf are just more prestige than ibo. I like prestige dont you.
Re: What's the most important belt?
i always see ppl say that about the wbc but has there been a study or something? and where is it most coveted
Re: What's the most important belt?
If I was a fighter, and all 4 opponents were equally sh*tty I'd be targeting the one that was gonna pay the most to defeat. At the end of your career prestige doesn't amount to much, but if you made the right moves hopefully you'll be able to count your money from your career.Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 14:55Correct

I'll grant you that chances are the WBC Champ would often be the best payday, not always, but that would often be the case.
Re: What's the most important belt?
Just kinda seems to be a thing I've heard fighters say. I saw a recent interview with Mikey Garcia where he said "My 3rd World Championship was the most important to me because it was the WBC Title, and my Father always wanted a WBC Title for our family"
I've heard other guys say they wanted that one most too.
Re: What's the most important belt?
seems like an americas thing, whereas europes most popular boxers have usuallybeen other belts like wba

Didnt wlad reigned for 10 years and considered 1. Aj beat him.
Wasnt povetkin considered by many more dangerous than wilder. Did aj beat povetkin?
Only the college football player with 0 technique and chubby x legs left. Beside these 2 aj fought the top heavyweights.

Re: What's the most important belt?
Mexicans always want the green belt. I've seen a few other fighters talk about wanting that belt. I just don't recall anyone ever saying they grew up coveting any of the other ones. Certainly nobody ever grew up dreaming of being champion of a magazine.
Re: What's the most important belt?
When AJ fought Povetkin, no he wasn't considered more dangerous than Wilder. Wilder and Fury are the two top guys of his time, he has fought neither of them.Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 15:01Aj didnt fought the best of his own time?

Wlad was at the end of the line, and had already lost the title when AJ beat him. Great Champion, but his best days were behind him for the Joshua fight.
Re: What's the most important belt?
I liked it when wbc made that golden special wbc belt for mayweather pacquiao, you remember? That was coolgilgamesh wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 14:57If I was a fighter, and all 4 opponents were equally sh*tty I'd be targeting the one that was gonna pay the most to defeat. Re: What's the most important belt?
Yeah I remember. They've gotten to where they love to make extra belts just for the hell of it these days. As if the sport doesn't have enough belts as is.Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 15:04I liked it when wbc made that golden special wbc belt for mayweather pacquiao, you remember? I long for the day when fighters all band together, and just start boycotting the goddamn belts personally.
Re: What's the most important belt?
I remember a lot of people saying how good povetkin was and how technicly sound he was and hating on wilder, cause many said wilder was only power and a athletic body but not technicly good boxer and that povetkin had the technique and power to beat wilder.gilgamesh wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 15:02When AJ fought Povetkin, no he wasn't considered more dangerous than Wilder. And i am not even a pov fan. I said pov was b level and that he struggled against a cruiserweight and was far away from being as good as aj
Re: What's the most important belt?
I thought Povetkin had a real shot at beating Wilder when they were initially scheduled to meet in 2016. I'd still give him an outside chance, but his chance diminishes more and more all the time.
Yeah he probably has better technique than Wilder, but hell so does everybody. Wilder is a tremendous puncher, and that's about it, his technique has never been one of his top attributes.

Re: What's the most important belt?
Wuupa; if that was your own assessment of Povetkin, why do you turn around in this thread and hold that AJ win up on the mantle? I'm not trying to offend you, but those are apposing views coming from the same poster? (you).Wuuupa wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 15:08I remember a lot of people saying how good povetkin was and how technicly sound he was and hating on wilder, cause many said wilder was only power and a athletic body but not technicly good boxer and that povetkin had the technique and power to beat wilder.gilgamesh wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 15:02When AJ fought Povetkin, no he wasn't considered more dangerous than Wilder. Re: What's the most important belt?
It's not the belt, it's who you have to beat to get it
Adonis Stevenson made his belt valuable by having it so long
Whatever belt Canelo has ( except Fielding's) is valuable because you have to beat Canelo.
Wilders belt means something because he has knocked out everyone except Tyson who tried to take it.
Joshua has a few bullbelts, but heck, best him and your money in the bank for as long as you can hold onto them
