As for the ref, if he was more concerned about doing his job instead of concentrating on delivering a necessary result, Adonis would have been in better shape now.

He's stable, y'all can stop pretending you care.
Re: Prayers for Adonis Stevenson
I think that their opinions would be colored by the aftermath. If Stevenson had not gone to intensive care few would be discussing / criticizing the ref.ValMar wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 12:57The majority of posters here would claim it was a "premature stoppage".ironbeard wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 12:51I agree that it could have been stopped a bit earlier, but I am not the one who had to make the decision. He’s stable, but that doesn’t mean he’s in the clear. And even if he survives, he probably won’t be the same. Brain injuries are no joke.
Changes should be made to this sport. No more 12 round fights, lower it to 10. And don’t allow fighters to fight past the age of 40. Fight while you’re young, get your money, then get the hell out. Maybe Andre Ward was right.

from today...doesnt seem very promising tbh
It's too early to give a prognosis for Montreal boxer Adonis Stevenson, who remains in a Quebec City hospital after suffering a "severe traumatic brain injury" in a knockout loss on Saturday, a doctor said Wednesday.
"His condition requires mechanical respiratory assistance, deep sedation and specialized neurological monitoring. It is too early to comment on Mr. Stevenson's long-term prognosis," said Dr. Alexis Turgeon, an intensive-care specialist at the Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus.
Re: Prayers for Adonis Stevenson
Definitely bad news. I would've hoped he would've been out of the woods by now, but he's still apparently in very serious danger of Death or Permanent Life altering injury.jamamb wrote: ↑05 Dec 2018, 17:29 from today...doesnt seem very promising tbh

I hope the news gets better over the next week, but the fact that he's still under sedation, and has yet to regain consciousness is very grim indeed.
Re: Prayers for Adonis Stevenson
No positive updates yet. Not looking good.
I really hope he doesn’t end up like Oscar Diaz or Pritchard Colon.

Re: Prayers for Adonis Stevenson
Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the WBC, paid a visit to its former light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson in Quebec City earlier this week. Under normal circumstances there might have been much to discuss, such as maneuvers for Stevenson to retain his title. But normality had nothing to do with it and discussion between the two men was less muted than nonexistent.
In defense of boxing, which at times like these needs all the defense it can get, Sulaiman, prior to looking at the comatose boxer at the Enfant-Jésus Hospital, spoke with the press about what occurred.
“It was an accident,” he said, failing to acknowledge the essential nature of the sport. “It was a very unfortunate situation and in general terms the referee of Montreal Michael Griffin had a good performance.”
Praising a referee has its place, but it might not be appropriate while visiting a comatose fighter who the ref was paid to protect.
“The WBC has worked constantly to make boxing safer for boxers in recent years, including modifications to the rules. Boxing is dangerous, but there are other more dangerous sports.”
Saying boxing is dangerous is like saying sugar it sweet and the obviousness of the statement boggles the mind. As far as the “other more dangerous sports,” Sulaiman gave no examples. Perhaps none came immediately to mind, or maybe his argument was specious.
“Adonis is a very special champion and friend,” continued Sulaiman. “We have to support him in this moment that he is fighting for his life. The WBC cares about all our fighters and it is a legacy that my father left to watch over each one of them.”
Does that mean the WBC intends to cover his medical expenses, which could be exorbitant and last for many years?
That subject was not addressed.

yes, it is really sad a while back Skoglund (swedish boxer who faced smith) got a brain bleed and was in an induced coma for just over a month so hopefully we get some good news in Jan 2019dagilechia wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:17and that he's still in coma come from his promoter so Stevenson's situation is not good.kbackup408 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:12unless it comes from the promoter everything else is fake newsdagilechia wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:08 Now it came out that he's actually still in coma and all what was said before was a fake news.

Yeh, don't know why other news outlets are making stories of his recovery and that he was 'chatting with his family/friends.'kbackup408 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:12unless it comes from the promoter everything else is fake newsdagilechia wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:08 Now it came out that he's actually still in coma and all what was said before was a fake news.

Re: Prayers for Adonis Stevenson
do you know how is Skoglund doing now? i will also try to find some news about Gutknecht, last time i heard about him it was said that he's unable to walk and talk. i also wonder how Boytsov is doing. Mago and Colon are slowly recovering, at least they can communicate with their families, of course both will be always just a shade of their former selfs, it's sad.kbackup408 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:19yes, it is really sad a while back Skoglund (swedish boxer who faced smith) got a brain bleed and was in an induced coma for just over a month so hopefully we get some good news in Jan 2019dagilechia wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:17and that he's still in coma come from his promoter so Stevenson's situation is not good.kbackup408 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 07:12
