:OhYes:

tbh I'm not knocking the OP but as far premature posts go this is up there..

Aj can be one of the most decorated but AJ is a decent fighter but he struggled agaisnt the smaller quicker Parker can you imagine what a mike Tyson would've done .. not forgetting Lennox Ali marciano louis Johnson Holmes all better

I'm a fan of aj but he's nowhere near that level yet of the aforementioned greats.... but he has potential to be in at least the top 10 if dominates for years to come...

Prime Tyson could have been a very painful and humbling experience for AJ for sure. On the credit side his power, physical advantages and handspeed could make closing the range problematic.

Having said that post-prime Povetkin seemed to be overcoming those problems without too much difficulty in the early rounds so I doubt Tyson would find it too much of a struggle.

I'm not keen in comparing fighters it's so subjective but my feeling is aj is a level down from Tyson and the rest of the greats Currently that is .. I almost think the OP believes this and hes is merely jesting with us..

Yes I tend to shy away from comparing fighters from different eras and also from substantially different weight classes. It is as you say extremely subjective.

A prime ali (he said himself he was in great shape and asked by reporters:"would a young ali beat norton?" answered by ali:"no, young ali was to light to weak to beat norton." all i am saying is, in terms of technique and footmovemant ali the goat by if he was to small physicly fir norton, than no way he wouldve handled vitaly or anthony, to much weight and height difference, in terms of p4p ali > aj, vitaly etc...

Thats always an impossible answer.
Best heavyweight based on what?

There is no best heavyweigth ever.
Aj is a very well rounded boxer, probablu the best out there today and for some years.
Not even close in terms of power to foreman and others, but much more accurate and smart.
Good technics, but not even between the best technichal and skilled boxers.
Great physique, seems to have decent stamina.
Smart inside and outside the ring.
Decent footwork but nothing great.
Has charisma, but there are/were much more charismatic fighters out there.

If any, as a rounded package of all the things a heavyweight should have in and out of the ring, I choose Ali.
Clearly he was the most charismatic, relevant, delightful fighter to see, and successful boxer of his era, which is considered one of the best eras of HW boxing.

I'd probably go for Ali as the GOAT at Heavyweight but he always had a problem with pressure fighters. Norton would always give him trouble same with Frazier. Even Oscar Bonavena and Leon Spinks. There used to be speculation back in the seventies as to who would prevail between he and Marciano, in fact a famous and controversial computer simulation at the time found in favour of Marciano.

Now I'm not dissing the rock but can you imagine what Tyson would have done to a 185lb Marciano? I wonder how Ali would have coped with a prime Tyson given his vulnerability to front-foot fighters.

Of course this doesn't prove anything ... except maybe that styles make fights, but then we all knew that anyway.

Good post

Absolutly, weight makes a huge difference imagine
a 6'4, 260 lb marciano, that would a total different story to the 5'10, 185 lb real marciano.

Heavyweight dont get much better than ali or tyson, but they taller and weigh more and its a huge advantage.

Chris eubank jr is lightyears away of having floyds kind of skills yet still he would f;&!*k up floyd sheer size..

Now that is a pretty terrifying proposition but a super-sized Marciano would shake up the Heavyweight scene and no mistake. Hell I'd settle for a Tommy Morrison clone.

You mean Mayweather? ... Floyd Mayweather Mark II ... surely you jest :o

I always liked Kalan. He knows a lot about boxing. He definitely had some left-field ideas to put it mildly, but he could usually make a decent case for all but the most outrageous of them, and could be frequently entertaining and thought provoking.

I don't know why he hasn't been on here for a while, and I hope he is in the best of health.

I liked Kalan also. If you didn't agree with.him he still could make you laugh.
But he was banned about 3 months ago
