It's just a shame that the prime version of RJJ never fought in Australia. He used toy with guys who were at Greens level.

Agree it was like Anthony Mundine stopping Shane Mosley. Sad really.

Still a huge name to be able to put on your resume and at the right time of said careers for the aussies.

Always shitty to see legends like Shane and RJJ go out like they did, but I would also be stoked if I was Green (or Mundine) and I beat a name like that.

Jones had 16 fights after that and won 12 of them. In the fight after Green he went the distance with Bernard Hopkins.

Green was much happier than he would've been if Roy stopped him !! If i remember correctly RJJ was betting favorite and in the few years leading up to the Green fight his only loss was the Calzaghe. Green landed flush on RJJ. He was far from Helpless.

Green was a decent fighter but that Roy Jones ko was the definition of a lucky punch. It bounced off Roy’s shoulder and landed on the back of his head.

Went right off Green , when he chased and badgered a unfit , and unwell Paul Briggs , to take the fight , he and the whole of Australian boxing people , knew Briggs was unfit and medicly not able to fight , yet he wanted that name Briggs on his resume , and badgered and badgered him , knowing Briggs needed the money .

2 things were off here , Green and his management , for wanting it , and the Board for allowing it , anyway they got what they deserved a kick in the face , when Briggs said fook it i'll take your money but i'm not gonna get killed ,, Course mister prima dona Green then went on to call him a dog , , Funny though how a few years earlier they wanted nothing to do with Briggs .

From Green Machine Promotions moving the fight to WA after finding a doctor to somehow clear Briggs as "medically fit", after the fight was banned in NSW because of his neurological disorder, and the rumors Briggs was being knocked out in sparring; to Briggs having to be helped into the ring; to the way Green branded Briggs "lower than a K9" before feeding Briggs to his redneck fans; to Green coming out the next day saying that it was a "legitimate knock out"... The tiny bit of respect I had left for Green disappeared. He's a disgusting human being.

Cant argue with any of that.

At the time i clashed with a few people when i said Briggs quite possibly died from that fight. Nice to hear someone else allude to that reality.

A couple of years after, an article/interview with Briggs did the rounds saying he never saw a cent from that fight. Honestly not surprised.
