Fan being removed from arena for wearing a Union Jack waistcoat!

Post by Finn »

There’s a lot being made of this on social media. A fan was removed from the Warrington v Frampton fight for wearing a Union Jack waistcoat.

A lot of people are up in arms about it.

What have you guys made of it?

this seemed to be a political statement by a royalist in order to create tension a potentially volatile statement imo. Considering Frampton is trying to represent a new united Northern Ireland.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around this situation. Might you explain please?

So fan wears a Union Jack waistcoat to a fight. Somehow, he is asked to remove it. What was the reason? Is it because an Irish fighter was there? Was he actually making some political statement? Granted he just should have taken it off, but I'm missing something on the issue it created. Thanks bruv!

I think the troubles in Northern Ireland are still there although they have mellowed in recent years but Frampton like Barry Mcguigan was before him, trying to promote a united northern ireland, to turn up wearing a British waistcoat in order to undermine that and to try and insight a reaction from other fans is piss poor.

The dress code says no colours. States clearly on the ticket too. It was nothing to do with the flag and what the flag represents. It’s was that it was colourful, which wasn’t allowed.

Apparently he was told to remove it, which he did, 3 times and each time put it back on.

I didn’t make up the rules mate. I seen it a lot. A lot of events promote to wear bland colours. They just say no colours, that may stand out or anything..

Most just wear white, black, grey shirts and whatever.

The dress code was put in place due to the Northern Ireland tensions so that political statements couldn’t be made. The venue usually allows colours and flags.

Yeah apparently he just thought it was smart. Obviously didn’t realise why the no colours policy was in place.

Many including myself have got the wrong end of the stick and it’s gone viral on social media and in the news. Many thinking it’s just a ban on the Union Jack.

Lucky Kelly Maloney didn’t turn up in the whistle he used to wear in the Lennox days - although probably more likely to borrow Geri Halliwells dress these days.

It's a bit ridiculous that he's getting turfed out for wearing a garment with this countries flag on it. I've also never heard of any sort of dress code for a large boxing event and I've been attending shows since my early teens....

I remember being at a Rammstein concert in Manchester and somebody was thrown out wearing a Bon Jovi t-shirt.

I don't know what he'd done but I remember secretly hoping he was just thrown out for wearing that shirt.

What does ‘no colours’ mean anyway? Would he have been fine in a KKK outfit? :maybe:
