Yeah I’d actually have Parker as favourite. He was unfortunate in that he had his brain scrambled by the clash of heads and the officiating was a little relaxed in some ways.
Definitely! He was also very fortunate to get the decision over Chisora, and that Helenius seemingly gave up after boxing his head off for the first couple of rounds.

I rate Whyte 6th. He's good and will give any heavyweight a decent fight but he's not the 2nd best
34 isnt even that old for a hw, wilders 33 for example, and several top 10 guys are older like pov, pulev. i think breazeales about 34 too

whytes defo below aj, wilder, and fury. i could see a case for rating him 4th although hes also arguably a few spots lower then that. defo not number 2

When you've been in so many wars as Chisora has. 34 can be quite old

Even money fights against Miller and Hughie.
If you asked me if he could beat Ortiz, I'd say it's very possible. Povetkin and Miller? Ditto. I'd make him the favourite against Pulev and Hughie. But if you asked me if he could beat Ortiz, Povetkin and Miller one after another without losing... that's when I'd say that I doubt it. So while I think he might be in the top five on any given night, I think he'd fall back if the heavies all had to fight several times next year.

I felt exactly the same about Haye, who was only behind Wlad in the rankings. I too would've made him the favourite against anyone else, but not everyone else.

agreed with the age thing....its about miles on the clock......fernando vargas was washed up at 25 and bernard was peaking at 35. chisora has taken too many hard fights....whyte lost more rounds than he won over both fights, he gets iced by AJ in less than 4 rounds.

I was disappointed with Whyte at the weekend, I thought he’d come on more than he actually has. He wouldn’t grace my top three.

Parker was making him look bang average until the head clash.
A rematch would be a totally different outcome

He simply isn't at the very top though, If you consider the champions at the very top it has to go Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and then Tyson fury. That's just based on their holding various titles.
(AJ - WBA Super, IBO, WBO, IBF . DW - WBC . TF - Lineal title)

Outside of those you have the contenders for the world titles, Parker and Breazeale I would say are better boxers than Whyte, at least in terms of boxing skill. I would expect Parker out of the pair would be the one of the two who I would expect to do better against Whyte though, depending on how Breazeale continues to improve (Won his last three fights by KO or RTD)

Ortiz and Pulev could also be better from a technical point but in terms of power I would put Whyte ahead of them

Sadly I think it's his wins over Helenius and Allen that may hold him back, despite the wins he couldn't put either man away before the final bell when he was the favourite to do so.
This leads to a question of can he put away a good/decent boxer with a good chin and a good will not to quit.

Whyte’s on a good run, is a genuine contender and has earned his shot at the title. Hopefully he can give Joshua another exciting fight.

Yeh. HW’s are always peaking. They never have to make weight. That’s why they usually carry on longer than anyone in the below weight classes. Wlad literally won the world title at 30 and kept it til he was what 39?

Wherever you personally think of Whyte's talents - it's hard to dispute he's currently ranked No.4 in the world.

Very few are open to him being the 2nd best - because it's unlikely he'd beat Fury or Wilder.
Also, most would think him losing to the 5-8th ranked guys is more likely than him beating any of the Big 3.

He's a top five fighter no doubt, which says all there is about the state of the Heavyweight division right now. But the top three are obviously AJ, Fury & Wilder (and debate continues about which order to put them in) but after that its a HUGE drop in talent so to try & place Whyte in at number two is laughable.

Is he though?! Would you be absolutely certain that he'd beat the likes of Povetkin, Ortiz, Miller, Kowacki, etc?

Whyte fan here, and no way I can put him at number 2.

I was a little disappointed with him on Saturday, but it's easy to forget he has such little experience. He quite possibly has plenty more to show.

I wouldn't be certain no. But rankings should be based on what you have done recently not what you might do in the future.

Based on that criteria I'd say Whyte deserves a top 5 ranking

If not number 4. Agree with him earning it by fighting.

Yeah you could definitely make an argument for 4th.

As much as some people rate Povetkin and Ortiz their records over the last 2 or 3 years are nowhere near as good as Whyte's.

Agreed. Fights with Pov and Ortiz would be great fights, and I couldn't pick a winner v. Whyte, but Whtye's earned his shot and probably number 4 ranking, imho.

He's not the second best HW on Earth, even if he is most deserving of a shot at the title.

i think hes possibly as good as 4th in the world, but possibly lower too

hes pretty obviously not the second best. aj would just ko him again. hed lose pretty much every round in a wide ud to fury. have his moments vs wilder but get flattened eventually. he could possibly beat guys like povetkin and miller etc but i could see him losing those too. vs ortiz, he could be splated out, but ort is pretty slow and one paced and i could see him outworking and outlasting the old guy
